Fish'N Friends Needs Boaters Saturday September 12 2009 Lake Orion

Anthony Adams and I are again asking for your help. We will need 15 to 20 boaters to take the Crossroads for Youth kids fishing this year on Lake Orion, Saturday, September 12, 2009.

We will have basic fishing gear and life jackets for the kids. We just need you and your boat to make this great event happen. Tell your friends if you know of anyone else who might want to take 1 or 2 kids fishing and do a little positive mentoring for a few hours.

I believe we will again fish from about 8 AM until noon followed by lunch in Oxford at the Crossroads school. If you can pick up some live bait, that would be nice too. Not sure if we'll have that available yet this year. There will be some chaperons also going out in some of the boats to help out. We are also looking for donations to reward the boaters who give their time to this worthwhile opportunity. I will have further details soon.

I am sorry I will not be able to make it this year DK.  My son is playing soccer that day and I am committed to his team as I am the team manager.  I sure would have liked to come out and fish with the kids and win all the door prizes like I did last year.     If you remember, I won the GPS and the Johnny Morris fishing rod.  I used that rod a lot at the hot pond last fall throwing crankbaits.  What fun that was.       Aside from winning the door prizes, the lunch would have been enough.  It was ALL GOOD!!!!  

At this time I would like to encourage the other anglers that own boats here on the board to support DK and come out and fish.  I really enjoyed myself last year and would have loved to do it again this year.  Unfortunately I will not be able to make it.      The best part about this for me was the feeling I had when it was over and to see the faces on the kids that we took out fishing.  It really felt good to take these kids out.  They don't get these opportunities to ride in performance bass boats and fish with accomplished anglers such as ourselves.  Hope you guys can donate some time to help DK out.  I would be there if I could.

Sorry to hear you can't make it again BD. I understand.

We still need more boaters please to give these kids an opportunity to do something fun and positive that may make a real difference in their life. You do not have to have a performance bass boat either. Any boat that floats and is safe will be very welcome.

DJ, next year, I'm in. Got my boat too late to help this year. My favorite fishing partner is my 8 yr old grandaughter. I would be more than willing to help with anything involving kids. Mike

Have you thought about next year yet DK??  Sometimes if I can get it on my calender early I will know earlier whether it clashes with soccer or not.  I'm thinking scholarship here for the boy.  This economy is tough on all including me.  Harder and harder to save money for college with everything going up except my paycheck.  I am sure we are all in the same boat with different situations.
