Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Me and the little lady are planning on doing some camping over the 4th and need some sound advice. We live in Cleveland and would like a nice lake with primitive camping and electrical hookups somewhere not too far into the wolverine state from home.Got her to agree on draggin the little bass tracker with us.Plan on doing some bassin for a few days.Would be nice to find a place to make an annual trip with our soon to be born first child.Any and all suggestions would be great.
Thanks to all!

You could check out Brighton State Rec. Area: http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/Details.aspx?type=SPRK&id=438
They have camper areas on one side of Bishop Lake and cabins on the other. Over on Murray Lake there is rustic camping I think. You can put your boat in on Bishop and Appleton, but you are also close to a ton of other lakes that are a little bigger.

Or check Pinckney Rec Area: www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/
I don't know much about it other than it is right by the Portage and Halfmoon chains.

Another one that is closer to the border is Lake Hudson Rec Area: http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/Details.aspx?type=SPRK&id=464
I've only fished it once and it was pretty dirty but there are some good sized bass in there if you can find them and it is a musky rearing lake that has fish over 60" from what I heard about a DNR shock this spring.

Here you can find them all: www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/

Bruin Lake campground on the halfmoon chain is a real nice campground and a ton of fishing to be had.
Remember you don't quit fishing when you get old, you get old when you quit fishing

Sorry I did not see post sooner.  Just make sure you call the State Park system ahead of time to reserve a spot if possible.  This will be a big weekend, being over the 4th.  A lot of the rustic are first come/first serve, and do not have electric.  Bruin lake would be my best bet to try, as there are several lakes to fish.  It is located within the Pinckney Recreation Area.
Good luck.

Thanks for the great help fellas :)So after all that, she decides that visiting her family up at Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island...Dad warned me of a pregnant woman! There are a few areas that you all mentioned that I would like to check back into for a future weekend trip.Gotta get back up to Michigan soon.Have only fished a few inland lakes and like them better than our lakes here in Ohio.Absolutley love LSC but having a smallish boat really limits me up there hence the thirst for knowledge when it comes to finding a more weather freindly in-land.Lake Erie sure does like to break things and bash yer brains in all day but when the conditions are right(wich seems to be so rare lately)you can really understand why its such a good fishery.Hey,If any of ya need a good fishin buddy thats willing to help out, look me up.
Thanks again to all.
Happy Independence Day to everyone... embrace and enjoy the freedom you have.

Looks like I'll be up and around that way now. They're calling for waves less than 2' all day tomorrow, but of course,NE winds to start the day.I know BBB69 will be up there tomorrow as well.I'll prolly launch at Mazurik and fish my mainland spots first, then when the winds switch by mid-morning,I'll most likely head out to the islands area.Keep your celly on!
