This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

I stopped by Al and Bob's this morning to pick up a few things and have a rod repaired. It seems a young boy caught a 10+ pound (I think Mark said 10.3 but I was so amazed at the pictures I didn't really hear the total weight) Large Mouth Bass in a farm pond near Gun Lake earlier this week. This fish is HUGE!!! Caught it on a K&E Bass Stopper purple and white stripe worm!!!!! Had it weighed on a certified scale and had a CO check his catch. I'm sure we'll be reading about this fish in the Press later in the week... you should see the ear to ear grin on this kids face in the pictures!

And I thought the 5 pounder I got yesterday was a decent fish... but man-o-man is this kids fish big!!!

I think I'll go dig thru all my tackle and see if I have any K&E's!!!!
Addicted to fishing.  All the time, any species, anywhere!!  Especially in West Michigan!!!

Let's hope this kid was just excited and didn't taunt any other anglers like the little twer... er, kid who caught a big bass from the dock years ago and then held it up to my partner and I and taunted us severely... including examples of bad dance moves (I like to think he ended up in a bad boy band 10 years later ;D)

Seems like every 5 years or so you read about some kid somewhere catching a 10 pound bass.

The Original Senko.....I can't believe those smaller hoods held that fish..I used to catch alot of bass from shore with those in the day....HMMMMM, with the way my tournament results have been the  last 2 months maybe I should go back to those and maybe Jitterbugs and Hulas....Jig and real pork used to be good also..

I KNEW I remembered reading about this recently. Goes along with our nice largemouth post we have going...
