Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

If you mean Ambassador Bridge:

Wally's Bait & Tackle
3195 Sandwich St.
Windsor, Ontario, Canada. N9C
1-519-256-2841

A few blocks south of the bridge / Highway 3.

Store Hours
Mon. to Sat. 6am to 6pm
Sun 6am to 5pm

Around Lake St Clair
Marine City Ferry - you can ride across before 10 PM and buy Walpole and/or Ontario Nonresident fishing licenses without going ashore - just tell the Customs officer you went just to buy a license. That's way north of Algonac on the St. Clair River.

Chematogen Camp store - 519-627-1558. A small store and campground off the Chematogen Channel a 10 minute no wake idle down from the South Channel on the left - they have a small bay and dock.

If you call ahead by Wednesday to:
LAKESIDE FISH SHOP
25110 JEFFERSON ST
ST CLAIR SHORES MI  48081
810-777-7003

you can pick it up there after Thursday.

For Erie, I'm not so sure. I have never done that so I only have a vague idea about a place in Amherstburg near the public docks.

You might want to call the Chemetogan Camp Store first because I heard a rumor they were no longer going to sell them.  Could be just a rumor, but I'd check first.

That would not surprise me. I usually call them once every year. Last year or the year prior, they ran out early and I don't know if they ever got anymore in. I would hope they at least still sell the Walpole licenses anyway.

Do they recommend a Canadian License for the Sandusky BFL?

Pelee is in Canada.  I'd say it's a fair chance you'll draw a boater going to Pelee.  If you are a boater, I'd say that's up to you :)

I can't remember if they are openly pushing it - I don't know if they are stating it outright or just using their rules which say anglers are responsible for all licenses. I have not hear Ontario waters are closed, so you better have it - odds are good you'll need it and you don't want to sit on the back deck doing nothing all day.

I asked the question pretty much knowing the answer. Going to have to call Lakeside and get my Canadian and Walpole. Going to need them anyway for the next two BFLs.

By the way how are the water levels over there on the east side on St. Clair and Erie.

We fished Crystal at Beulah Sunday and 23lbs + won it. Big fish was a 5-12 smallie. Everybody had limits. Lots of fish on the beds.

It's alot easier to get to Pelee from Sandusky Bay since it's a bit closer. Plus King Georges Reef is just a short ways from Kelly's. Even fishing Kelly's shoal can be tricky since it's so close to Canada. I'd say unless you make a long run east or fishing for largies in the harbors, I would have one. It's closer to run to Pelee then it is to the central basin.
