Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Anyone on here making DS weights?  I need some and would rather support a fellow GLBr before I head to the store.  I'm in Roseville.

I can hook you up

Shoot if you have enough I would take you up on some also. If I remember correctly yours have the weight molded into them? Do you make any out of tungsten?

21XDC

This is what I make  http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?topic=35061.0

I do not make them in tungsten. I do use a hard lead that works very well.  :) Yes, The weight is shown on every size. I really like that for ease of grabbing one from the mass.

Glad you asked... If anyone has any lead laying around or know someone getting rid of some, Keep me in mind.  I think I melted 12lbs of lead for your DS weights.   :o

Great meeting you as well... Thanks again for lunch.

That's the thing about lead... where do find more easily, and cheap or free?

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Mike   Do you have a Smelting Pot.   I use my propane torch and a ladle.  Slow process but I only make weights every couple years.   I am still using No. 9 Bird Shot from my old Skeet Shooting days.  It was 6.00 for a 25 pound bag back then.  We thought that was outrageous.

I have 3 different pots... My good one RCBS is almost $500 and I don't like to melt ugly lead in that as it plugs up the spout and will drip. Clean Lead cost $3 per pound... Scrap lead is $.75 per pound.

I'm looking for an old Hiltz Ultimate Inferno pot... Keep an eye open for me.

I have a small melting pot - can't remember the brand but it is probably the most common one you see for sale on fishing websites. I think it would drive me crazy to try doing it with a torch and a ladle... dartag, you must have a lot more patience than me! Do wish you could buy a 25 pound bag of lead for $6 still...

A few years ago I bought a bag of supposedly pretty clean lead shot from some source in Canada. I think it was also 25 pounds and I don't remember the price but it was the cheapest I could find anywhere at the time. I didn't want to try putting together scraps. Hard to tell what kind of 'lead' you're getting from some of it.

A fishing acquaintance of mine passed away a few years ago from the effects of metal contamination. He had been pouring tons of lead for years in his basement with little or no ventilation I was told. Not good. I've heard stories about lead pourers getting arsenic poisoning from some of the lead that is out there just from breathing fumes over a period of time.
