Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Hey Guys,

I was thinking about taking my father up to Fletchers for a fishing trip, and was wondering when a good time of the year would be to go?  Last year my wife went out there later in the summer, but the lake was so weed choked my 10hp motor couldn't cut thru with out the prop getting loaded up.  I would like to go before the weeds take over, but the fishing is still good. Any advice would be appreciated.

Brian,

I've had the best time out there in the early spring. Last year I was there with my brother in Mid-May for two days and the Top Water was was on! However this included big Pike which were very aggressive. I lost a few Poppars. We did manage a few nice LM and my brother caught a Smallie that had to go about 3-1/2lbs. I also nicked up my prop a bit on all the logs.

When it gets windy out there it can get pretty hairy.

July, August & September are the best months to fish the Floods.

The weeds change on the Floods every year.........but if you think you'll be able to fish it without weeds.......you're sadly mistaken.

Fish the channel or close to it to keep out of the weeds.

I have always done well in June.  They use to have a big tourney in June until a few years ago and we boated 3 bass that were over 5lb and alot of 1-3lbers.  My buddy also landed a 6lb LM.  The weeds are there in June but just throw spinners and plastics and you will have a ball.
If you want any info email Dean at Jack's Landing.  He's always been helpful to me.  He also post reports at this web site.
