Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Hope to see all you westsiders, and everyone else for that matter, Thursday March 13 (my birthday) through Sunday March 16, 2008 in Grand Rapids at DeVos Place for the Ultimate Sport & RV Show with Outfitters Expo.

Tons of tackle always at this show including a great chance to see the HOT new St. Clair Crayfish from master lure designer Wayne Carpenter and Xtreme Bass Tackle!!! (Can't wait until then?!? Call toll free 877-485-2223)

Stop by and visit me at The Bass Federation of Michigan booth and Combat Fishing / Xtreme Bass Tackle booth. You can get your Case Plastics O-Wacky tool from Wayne while you're there.

I don't have the seminar schedule yet, but I hope to squeak in a few... maybe with Wayne, maybe with my buds (you too Jack) over at NBAA?

I'll probably be hanging around a bit too over at Matteson Marine checking out the awesome new Ranger Boats Z520 powered by a cool Yamaha VMax HPDI motor just thinking about that day when I can pick up one of those babies... or maybe a Z21...? Well not this year anyway... but I need to be working on cool color patterns ;D

Make sure you stop by Deka Batteries too - I visit them every year at this show and learn something new every time I talk to their techs - we rely so much on battery power to fish, we need quality batteries that hold up.

Ask me about KaRu Vibraspins too - I hope to have a couple samples there to show. I may even give one away to one lucky angler...? That's if you haven't bought your own yet - (Remember their cool 20% off sale right now through January 22, 2008!)

For Grand Rapids hours and schedules, check back here or at: Grand Rapids Ultimate Sport & RV Show.

I'll be there for sure... probably more than once.  Do me a favor though... have Wayne leave all the good colors at home so us west siders who already have some of his baits can keep our advantage!!

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but the last I spoke with Wayne, he was actually glad that the GR show was happening before the Lansing show.
He was planning on ordering more stock in more colors to make sure that the west siders were well taken care of this year, and had plenty of color selections.
I worked Wayne's booth in Novi.  I knew when I saw the new "St. Clair Crawfish" color that it would be a winner.  I've wanted a tube with a little bit of chartreuse in it for awhile now.  It must be that everybody else has too.  The way guys would just descend on the display was amazing. We were actually having trouble keeping the wall stocked at one point.  In fact, we ran out of 4" tubes, and had to make an emergency pick up.
One thing I've learned from being around Wayne is this.  He does his research, and when he's willing to spend what he has to to introduce a new color, he better buy it cause it'll work.
Last year I wasn't so sure about 2.5" drop shot tubes when they were introduced.  Oooops my bad.  Now I have all colors he has.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

I'll talk to Wayne about 'forgetting' the good colors...?!? But then, he'd have NOTHING left to sell!!!! ;D ;D
