Mark your calendars for the 2nd Fish-n-Friends youth fishing event, organized by ABA (Anthony Adams) with whatever assistance myself and Alex Esselink can provide.

We have some great event sponsors and plans to double the number of children and youths we take fishing this year.

Fish-n-Friends will be held Saturday July 22, 2006 this year, hopefully on Cass Lake out of the State Park. We will be taking youths from the Crossroads for Youth school fishing and hopefully providing them with tackle and supplies again.

We will need volunteer boats and boaters - as many as we can get - to each take 1 to 3 youths out fishing for a few hours with shots at minor prizes for youths and possibly boaters.

Stay tuned for more announcements regarding this very worthwhile event.

I have good news. And it has nothing to do with saving a ton of money by switching to Geico.

I just got off the phone with Jerry Wright, the president of Fish Hedz masks. They are going to donate some masks to be auctioned off to benefit the CrossRoads for Youth foundation.

I am also getting Tackle packs from another sponsor (tourneyjigs.com) to auction.

Still waiting to hear back from Airrus Rods, but he has always been good to me and i suspect we will be adding them to the lineup of actionable ( new word ) goodies to help with the event.

I love this stuff.

I marked my calendar to be there.  Do we contact Anthony to let him know that we are volunteering?

I can let him know.  Or you can let him know.

Are you doing the Blessing of the Boats this year with us?  Anthony mentioned it to me and i suggested he call you.

Revtro

He asked me about it last year, but I never heard from him.  I'm happy to do it if he still wants me to.  I only made one ABA event last year, so I may have fallen off of his radar.  Please feel free to let him know I'm happy to do it.  I just need a date and what exactly he would like me to do.

I've started a spreadsheet for volunteers. I will add Revtro and yukonjack2 to the list of volunteers. Let me know if that has changed? I'm putting you down for boaters, right?

Rev, would you please email or pm me your mailing address?

yukonjack2, I thouhgt I had your mailing address, but I apparently don't. Could you please do the same? Thanks.

Anyone else volunteering, please email me your name, address and a contact phone number. Let me know if you want to be a volunteer boater, or help out in some other way please. Thanks.

One other request for now: Would anyone here be interested in attending a charity dinner in the Flint area for a Fish-n-Friends fund raiser? It would cost a little over $10 to less than $15 per person. It may be sometime on a Monday through Thursday too rather than a weekend event.

We are hoping to invite interested people who want to donate for youth, but we also want to see how many anglers might attend. We have looked at several locations, but are leaning towards Miller Rd/Flint area at the moment.

Not a commitment from any of you, just a rough head count for feasibility we are adding to other counts. Thanks.

The fund raiser dinner never came together - we could not get an acceptable place together that met our needs.

We are selling raffle tickets for $5 each with 1st prize being a Lowrance iFinder Pro portable GPS as the main prize. Please contact me if you like to help us raise some of the funds needed to make this important event a complete success.

The fishing part will take place on July 22 with the boater volunteers needed by 7:45 AM at the Cass Lake Dodge State Park. The kids will arrive around 8 AM. We will fish 4 hours or so, and then come in for 'awards' and food.
