I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Reel Man,
I have 2 phluger summit bait casting reels that I am having problems with.
Both reels cast very well out of the box with very smooth and long cast's, but after using them for about 3 monthes it dosen't seem to matter what I do with the reel I have lost a significant amount of distance when casting with them. I have cleaned and oiled them per your recommendations with other reels and this has not helped. Both reels cast extremly smooth and when I pitch with them the line flows off of the spool very smoothly and will go just about as far as when I really wind up to make a cast.

I have talked to another friend with the same reels and he is experiencing the same problems.

Do you know if this is a common issue with these reels and is there anything I can do to help out this problem.

Thanks

Not seeing the reels or casting them  makes it a little difficult to analyze. BUT, From your discription you have over oiled the bearings. It only requires a very small amount of oil, you need to use a needle oiler, and if you have continued to reoil you only slow down the bearings. You need to degrease the bearings and LIGHTLY oil them.
Another thing could be your line. The more set the line has the harder it is to cast.
Also, check the spool tension knob. It could be to tight, it should only be tight enough to stop sideways movement of the spool. The thrust washers at each end of the spool should be flat and not dimpled from wear. They also should be oiled.
Hope this helps,
