Tour Pro Michael Williamson Suffers Stroke

Veteran Walmart FLW Tour pro Michael Williamson is recovering in a Houston hospital after suffering a stroke Saturday morning while visiting his mother.

Williamson, 58, was preparing to go fishing when he was stricken just before sunrise. He retained some mobility and speech and was able to communicate his condition to his mother, Barbara Williamson. He was than transported to a hospital. Saturday evening, Williamson was undergoing tests in Houston's Memorial Hermann Neurosurgical Unit, according to his wife, Judy.

Williamson, who lives in Fort Smith, Ark., has fished as a Tour pro since 2011 and often travels with Texas lure maker Gary Yamamoto. Williamson was scheduled to attend next week's ICAST fishing tackle show in Orlando, then fly to New York to compete in the Rayovac FLW Series Northern Division tournament on Lake Champlain.
