This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

Mr. Basskisser

First post here. Been doing some searches and reading a lot.
We are heading up to stay on Clam Lake next Saturday for a week. Looking for bass and pike. We have a 16 foot Pro V Tracker. Hoping find some bass still on the beds in some of the lakes. How far along is the spawn up that way?  I was thinking Torch Lake would be the least far along.

Not gonna rule out a trip to Traverse Bay if the weather is right. Been on it 1 time and really enjoyed it.  Thay were just starting to spawn the day we went there. Found a few beds at the southern end of the East Arm.

Thanks for any info you can give. It is appreciated.

Cant wait to get up that way!

Got Fish??

Pick your days on the bay. It can get nasty fast. Being on Clam, fish the lake and take the river to Belair. Or cut across Torch to Segamoge. Your wheather on the big inland lakes can get mean also for your smaller boat. Spawn should be rolling along

Dan

Bay will be end of June, Torch should be on.

Most of  the big , deep lakes in the chain are still kinda cold.  Stackem and I found 63 degrees today in elk.  No beds, some cruzers, coupla dinky dinks. The 30-40 degree nights are killing the water temps. All the day's heat is being expelled at night. Gonna be at least 1 more week for the big lakes to warm up enuff. Shallow ones like skeg and clam should have some bedding bass.  Torch and elk are 2 lakes where the spawn lasts about a week. They all move up, eat, dump eggs, and bolt back down. They are tuff to pinpoint unless you are on them daily.
