Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Anyone familiar with this lake. Gonna try to see what I can find in there. Any places anyone can recommend to start? Baits? Thanks

Skulley

I've fished Belleville a lot over the years.  The spring is a great time to fish the lake.  Start in the west end.  It warms up the fastest and the fish get quite active there.  Docks close to the defined river channels can be hot spots too.  Good luck and let us know how you do.

What time does Sandy's open? What do they charge to launch there?

Skulley

I think Sandy's opens at 6am and they charge $10, however on the very west end of the lake there is a newer DNR launch that is open all the time.  In other words, I don't think they close the lake there.  I have launched there before 6am and there has not been an attendant.

That would be great but I only have a trolling motor. Plus I want to fish the east end, that long point by Sandys and then the adjoining cove where the old river bed cuts close up to the bank. I've caught decent fish there before and I really want to fish it hard to really see if they are in there good.

Lightningboy

You want to go to the East end you're talking about later in the summer.  Although I've never done very well on that point myself.

This time of year most of the action is up lake at the Rawsonville end.  There's a DNR ramp off Rawsonville road.  That will put you in TM range of some good fishing.

Anybody heard of anyone having an opening day tournament on Belleville?  I'm looking to stay close to home this year.

The club I fished with down here in Ohio always fished the MDNR free week end. Always had a great time on that lake. Seemed like the bigger fish I caught were off that area but not many numbers. The west end though we could really wack them on a couple spots I know of but couldn't find many over 14". I'm just looking to have a good time. I will look up that ramp on a map though and see exactly where its at, I might end up using it.

I didn't do as bad as I thought. Caught maybe 25 bass between 2 people. Most at 13 3/4". Then some a bit bigger. Looking to hone in on some bigger ones. That was Friday. Then I spoiled myself and went to Detroit river and got 35-40 by myself. All largemouths there

Smallies on Belleville were pretty active today hitting shallow cranks

I have fished belleville numerous times and have done alright.  I hear many guys talk about fishing the river from belleville.  How far from the dnr launch is the river, and how accessible is it.  Does anyone have any info regarding this part of belleville lake?

bigjc

There are two DNR launches on Belleville.  One on the west end of the lake located just off of Rosenville Rd. and the other is near the east end of the lake, located on Huron River Dr.

If you are heading up into the river you are far better off using the Rosenville Rd. launch, as it is located right where the river opens up into Belleville lake.

If you launch from the other end, it is a bit of a cruise and there are a few navigational obsticles along the way.
