Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Went out Saturday morning to that special blind on the creek....
Not many birds around right now, I think it's still that in between time. The local ponds froze so I figured the crick for some new birds, besides that, I owed my lab an outing as we were overdue. About mid morning had a couple mallards cup up and took the drake. Nice red legged bird like the old timers call "northerners". Not true - it's a "courting" thing. I guess I can say that here. Pretty slow after that.
Went back out Sunday morning and as I poured my 2nd cup of coffee a couple woodies zipped by. I wonder how many birds my coffee addiction has cost me over the years? Half a dozen mallards liked the look of my blocks, it surely wasn't my calling, and the lab brought back a couple nice drakes.
Later, after we "shared" the donuts, 1/2 for me 2 1/2 for him, the wood ducks came by again. This time I was ready. I'll take 4 ducks every trip! ;D
It looks like one of those years, unless we get the BIG WIND it'll only be a couple from time to time.

I here ya! The ducks my way have been so few I took up bow hunting again. My lab hates me now, but I did shoot a deer tonight. First time I have bow hunted in 18 yrs, I gave it up for duck hunting and now it looks like I have come full circle.  I hope some birds show up soon, I've only got one deer tag left.

Glad to see Dan started a hunting board. The duck hunting up here has been a bit slow. Seeming to be picking up on the divers however. This past weekend saw some good numbers of buffies and a few bluebills. Mallards seem to be down this year or just not here yet not sure which. There aren't many in the cornfields like usuall. Did manage 3 mallards on monday afternoon float hunting. Always fun though.

I was on White Lake (Muskegon) yesterday, Frday 10th, for one last shot at the smallies this year. Of course because I was there the wind blew a ton out of the east. We were quite suprised at the rafts of divers hanging out along the south shore. Mostly Buffies but also some Bluebills and Redheads  mixed in. There looked to be around 1,000 birds there. The usual super spooked flock of about 3 dozen mallards was using the north shore. Not that I really care....but where are all the coots? ???
