I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Best time to buy new boat

What is typically the best time to buy a new boat? Boat show? Last years model? Year end? I know if you went to a dealer that time would be the best. At least thats what they would say.

motocross269

I would say Model year end or During the spring Boat show....In the spring is typically when motor manufacturers run specials on warranty extensions also...

If you keep an eye out Dealers will have rigs they want to get rid of to make room for the new year models coming in...

Lots of "Pro" staff rigs come up for sale in the fall...

BIGSHOW

I've seen some pro rigs for sale. I wonder how beat up they are? And how much of a markdown you get? If it works out better. I saw one with 3 hds-10's. Now thats some serious fish finding.

VinceR

Granted, some of the pro rigs have been rode hard, but not all of them. Some are well taken care of, and there will likely be a few that didn't get used as much as others. Some only saw use as camera or marshal's boats. Most were wrapped, so the finish will be like new. Some send the boats back to the factory for re-conditioning. If you find one, it's a good way to get a boat already rigged with ALL of the bells and whistles.

If you can wait, early spring is a good time to buy used (including demos and pro-staff boats), too. The guys that put up boats for sale in the fall so that they can order their new boats are starting to get desperate (if the old boat has sold yet), and the prices are coming down for a quick sale.

The choices aren't what they were in the fall, but neither are the prices.

I would buy a new boat as soon as I could afford one.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I just got my insurance check and am going to buy a new boat this winter so I can have it in the spring.  Not really sure if thats the "best " time to buy, I'm sure alot of people order in the winter so boat companies might be backed up and I might get screwed.

If I waited for that I would be fishing tournaments from the pier.

I have purchased new early in the year, and a new end of season boat.  The first boat I ordered with all that I wanted on it.  I worked three dealers against each other.  Of course at the time these three Stratos dealers were within 4 hours of me.  That doesn't happen as much anymore.  Anyway I got to the point where two of the dealers said they couldn't sell me the boat for that price.  So, i'm figuring I did alright.
I purchased this boat at the end of the season in 2007.  I had crashed my old in a highway accident.  I feel I got a pretty good deal but drove 9 hours to pick it up.  Another thing is you may not get all the things or colors that you would like.  In each instance I feel I got a pretty good deal.

BIGSHOW

Im not to picky on colors. All or most of them are nice. Also would almost wanna see it. Sometimes what looks good on paper may not come out as cool as you thought. Unless they had a computer imageing software. The hard part of finding a floor model or demo or even used is you dont see the reata series that much. I dont know why. They are so versatile of a boat. Unless u fish the major tournament circuit. Only downfall I see is full out speed. Max out probably around 57 from what I heard. Not sure of the full out bass boats. Around 70+ from what im guessing. ...decisions ......decisions....
