Hey guys,

What is the best way to get a Canadian Fishing License?
I probably wont be using it until May but I heard it can take a while any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

That's where I ordered mine last time. You can now order a single day and print right away without an Outdoor Card, or 7-day if you have an Outdoor Card. Very convenient if you aren't going to make it more than once onto Ontario waters. This reminds me that my Outdoor Card has expired. Doesn't seem like 3 years already.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I tried to order a license from them this weekend...It locked up and charged my credit card and didn't give me a license to print out...I have been trying to get ahold of them the last 3 days and every time I call I am either put on hold for a long time and finally give up or get a busy signal....

It depends on where you live.  If you are in the St. Clair Shores area, the BP at 9 and Jefferson can get them as well as Lakeside Fishing Shop.  You pay a few bucks, but it's convenient.  You can also get them on the Ferry in Algonac.  You get on the Ferry and buy it from the guy who works on the boat.  It's a few bucks cheaper that way.

I hope that is just your unfortunate bad luck and not a new ongoing issue. Good luck working this out.

Here's the two related phone numbers I have:
800-667-1940
800-387-7011

Don't know if either of these will help.

Thanks Dan, I will try them.....

I called and got it my issues worked out...The online site seems to be working fine now, they had a small glitch over the weekend....Now I just have to nail down the call in procedures....

djkimmel

Small glitch... sometimes those just keep coming and other times things work fine for a while. I like the latter much better. Good luck with the call in situation. Will be interesting to see how that plays out this year.

When you get to step 4 of the on-line purchase process, make sure you save the pdf file of your license to your computer. Then you can open it and print multiple copies or save it for later in case you loose it.

t-bone

I print a couple copies - one for the boat and one for the travel tackle box. I always save a version to the computer too. It is one of the advantages of buying on-line!

Good advice. That's what I did last year.
