My brother and I are heading out on a fishing trip Monday the 5th. We'd like to hit St. Clair if the weather and conditions are favorable. I haven't looked at the forecast yet, but we are off and fishing Monday thru Friday. If we can't get on St. Clair we will prolly head to Traverse City.
Does anyone have any recent info on the American waters??? Did you guys get a bunch of rain and did it muddy up the lake bad?? Any tips on where we should try or what water depths?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This will be my second chance to fish up there this year and my brother's first.
Hmmmm maybe I can kill two birds with one stone. Anyone fishing Traverse City area for smallies doing any good?? Thanks again! Jeff
I guess if I was going to St. Clair I would go to the mile roads. Water is clearest there and the temp is falling. You may find some up shallow. I usually go to Erie this time of year. Was out there yesterday but stayed up in the river and had a phenomenal day both on largemouths and smallmouths. Nasty out on the lake with that 20mph SW wind. Headed out there this morning too. Probably will be staying up in the river with the wind blowing 10 to 20mph out of the WSW.

I am off Wed-Sunday and I am headed up to Cadillac to take my Dad fishing...I was going to go out on Grand Traverse Bay but the weather and the wind reports don't look to favorable....I may have to hit inland lakes my Dad can't handle the pounding on rough water...
Jeff, isn't Larry your brother's name? Has a Stratos? One of the better all around quality boaters in the BFL?

Sorry, not trying to get too personal. If you don't want to answer the name thing here, ask him if I own him a Pop-R from the '07 Burt/Mullet.

Yep Larry be my "Little" brother. Cept he's 6-5 and I'm only 6-2. lolol And yes, he's a quality boater and great guy. Just ask the co-angler that won Burt and Mullet with him this year. He had a rough year in the BFL. He was just in Iowa and I think he placed in the 40's.
He was my boater up there in 07 and was terrific to fish with.
I live "downriver" but if you guys are in the area I'll do what I can to catch-up with you out on the water and Larry knows there is a standing invitation for burgers and "beverages" at my place anytime.

I met Larry and Curtis this year at the LSC BFL...They were both great guys and we had some pretty good laughs in the pouring rain....
I haven't been on LSC for a few weeks so I am no help there....I would think they may be in shallow in Anchor bay if you get tired of pounding the mile roads....
Yesterday was a tough bite on LSC but that was in a nasty cold front with pouring rain coming thru every 45 mins or so it seemed, kept pushing us south down the Mile Roads. I was marking fish in the usual 11'-13' spots but couldn't get any takers.
Madwags posted in the "Big Ten Championship" thread that he found bigger fish in the 12'-15' range around schools of perch.
I've also been told by "a little birdie" (but haven't been able to check myself) that at the north end there are good largemouth to be had in 3'-5' and move out to 7'-9' for the smallies. I've got to believe that the better weather this week (minus Tues night) should help us out on the water...

Hey Scott, Sorry I didn't see this post of yours before we left. Actually I went up to St. Clair with my other brother, Mark. But we might have taken you up on your burgers and beverages. lololol The fishing sucked for us. We fished half day on Monday the 5th and then thru Thursday. We ended up with 45 smallies, a 3 1/2 pound walleye and a small musky. We did have three over 4 pounds but most were small and not what we were hoping to catch. We fished from metro beach to Grosse Point flats. Weather was pretty tough. Sorry we didn't get a chance to hook up with you. Jeff
