Title: Any news on Muskegon Lake's All Star Event
Post by: Kal-Kevin on September 01, 2013, 09:09:40 PM
I was talking to a friend today and he is going up for the whole week end and check out the event plus everything that is going on. Personally I'm hoping to make it up there for at least part of it if nothing else Saturday and Sunday.
So I was wondering if anyone has any up dates on what is going on and where? I would hate to miss anything important!
Hay Dan have you been in touch with Zoma lately, he might have so more information to share with us on the event. I know he wants us all to show up and support B.A.S.S. coming to Michigan.

Planning on going up fri night and staying through sunday. Do I have it right that theyll be on white lake one of those days as well?

For camping, Fisherman's Landing is right on the lake. There is also a campground on the northwest end of the lake, which is the state park. There are several campgrounds close by, Hoffmaster State Park, Pioneer State Park, Camp Schneppaho, and several others in the area. I'm sure (if there's a lot of people actually going to attend) they are probably filling quick, if not full. Wouldn't drag my feet too long.

No additional updates yet. Zona does want everyone to come! Me too! I want more of these major events in Michigan! Hopefully working on that later this month though we don't have much going on at the moment for 2014...

Should be fishing Muskegon Lake the first 2 days and White Lake the final day. Lake Michigan will be closed unless someone changes that late in the game - anything is possible though I would think improbable.

Please show up and MAKE SOME NOISE!!! :)

Well I got to do it as I was going for the day Saturday but the wife told me I had to go for the hole week end and I do not ant to pee her off I'm now staying Saturday and Sunday! Call Fishermen's Landing got the info that they have openings going to call later today and  get a spot for Saturday night. I also got to others that are going for the night Saturday plus others planning to come up Sunday. If you are in the area of us look for the Kal-Valley Bass Club banner and join us for a camp fire Saturday night.

I live just a couple minutes from Fisherman's. I may wander over there for a fire. If you want to follow someone to White on Sunday, let me know. I will be towing my pontoon up there to watch from. Will be on Muskegon Friday and Saturday as well.

I heard they are launching at the Mart Dock. B.A.S.S.doesn't want the public to be near during launch (so I have heard). It is in its own little cove, and I'm assuming if it is closed to the public, there will be some sort of enforcement at the end of it. As for times, I have none. I would imagine they would fish from 7 to 3, as that is a safe light time now. Not sure though. There have been cards floating around town here, but no times on them, just dates. The weigh ins are going to be at Heritage Landing, where they used to have Summer Celebration.

Launch is from Hartshorn marina at 7:15 with weigh in at 4 at Heritage.   Should be very fun time and I plan on being there Saturday and Sunday.  From what I've read both Muskegon and White will be open to fish the first 2 days with White only on Sunday.  Makes me think that most will run to White everyday.

Good to see a lot of you there Saturday and Sunday! HUGE CROWDS!!! Way to go Muskegon and West Michigan!!

The 14 pros fished only Muskegon on Friday and Saturday, and then the top 4 only fished White Lake Sunday. Hank Cherry had a pile of boats on him all day Sunday, and he pretty much fished most of the day on one of my top 5 old time smallmouth bass spots from the old days. Glad to see they're starting to come back.

The College Bass top 8 also fished 3 days down on the Grand River in head-to-head elimination rounds. I thought they did a pretty great job catching bass with a few surprising weights considering all the water down there, and their lack of knowledge of the area!! I was impressed.

The 10 Elite Anglers who didn't make the final day of the All-Star event also took out disabled veterans and family members of veterans for some awesome salmon fishing on Muskegon on Sunday. Some of them were pretty excited saying they had never caught salmon before. From the excitement I was thinking we may see a 'Salmonmasters' series or something down the road!! :D

It was a great event that went real well. Everyone I talked to with B.A.S.S., the sponsors, the city, the convention bureau, all very happy with the event. Believe you me, if there is ANYTHING I can do to get more events like this in Michigan, I will do it!
