I'm thinking about when, where and how to do the fall West MadWags Memorial. You have so many tournaments over there that there is no 'open' date. What date and lake(s) do you suggest? If I can get ~14 or more anglers to participate I will hold it and show up working with whatever we have.
You know I vote for a lake up here for the giant fall buffett. elk , skeg, torch, charvoix, the bay
Any good small mouth lake..
Lake Leelanau
Don't think I'll be able to make it, but Elk or GTB sound like a good bet.
Given the size of the turnout for the Fall events the last few years, I'd say maybe change up and go for a convenient location, so if folks want to make a weekend of it, they have options for hotels, camping, and going out. Duck or Green by TC fit that bill with Interlochen SP between them. Charlevoix, Leelanau, Elk, and Torch also do, but they add another hour or hour and a half drive for anyone coming from the east. I'd also be open to fishing the bay.
Sitting on a balcony overlooking White Lake in Whithall wishing I had my boat. Lake looks awesome. I think you were here a couple years ago.
Still say from the fall weights I have seen Sanford Lake would be a good central location for an outing. Not really interested in driving all the way up north to fish 2/days. Just my .02 cents.
I'd like to see my 'east' members come over but it is for the 'west' members primarily since we already have an 'east' tournament in the spring.
I like the idea of going north for good smallmouth bass fishing but can we get enough people to come up and do in on a particular day in the fall?
I dive over for the east side open every year. It would be nice to have a true west side open again. Everywhere we go is at least a two to three hour drive. The last 4 fall opens have been a bust due to poor fishing and crap weather, along with lack of participation.
I say Fremont Lake.
portage chain of lakes,

I say Fremont Lake.
Fremont Lake isn't a bad idea from everything I've seen about it in the past...

portage chain of lakes,
Portage Chain by Pinckney? That definitely would not count as a West side event... Has to be Grand Rapids and west to count. Still seems like some people want to go North but maybe not as many now??
Fremont sounds good to me, depending on the date. If it is a weekend I am off I would definitely be up for making the drive over to that side of the state.
I'm starting to like the idea of Fremont. It's a ways but not way up north. Has good fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass judging by the weights I see often. It can handle our lately average number of boats from what I've seen and heard. I've never been there and have wanted to go... hmmm...

annnd there is lake front cabins too.
Fremont is 20 minutes east of North Muskegon. I've fished 25 boat tournaments there, and never had an issue. It would be fun.
What about Saturday, October 3 on Fremont Lake?
Unfortunately I work that weekend. My work schedule requires me to work every other weekend.
So other than tjrock not being able to make it who could/would make Saturday, October 3 on Fremont Lake? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Fremont
never been to freemont, but would be up for it!
Don't know who will make it but I'm thinking of nailing this down for that day and lake, and see what happens.
Can't possibly be worse than last year.
Don't say that. I've heard from a few members who like the idea of Fremont so that's what I'm going with. I just have to write it up.
I could. I've fished 30 boat tournaments on Fremont and it never was a problem. BUT, White is fishing amazing this year.
id be interested in fishing if it were on Fremont I live 15 minutes away but October 4th wouldn't work for me because of usa basin regional on Muskegon lake
What about Saturday, October 3 on Fremont Lake?
I might be interested. Kind of far out at this point for me to say I will definitely be there.
I'm in for 10/3 as a boater.
Okay. We are off and rolling. Should be fun!
i should be around and would likely attend.
I'm in.
I'm in, non boater
Sounds good if no work comes up for that day.
Just fish it cameraguy. It will be good for you! :)
Any one know of good lodging close by?
I was looking at staying up there as well and save myself the morning drive. When I was up there a few weeks ago, I saw this motel (https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Cronk's+Oakridge+Motel,+Mason+Drive,+Newaygo,+MI/6475+W+64th+St,+Fremont,+MI+49412/@43.3924932,-85.9536764,12z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x881917c9c738b9b5:0x14d2815c42b62a3e!2m2!1d-85.8018098!2d43.3889164!1m5!1m1!1s0x8819404f7771271b:0x7209b6a97b2c9691!2m2!1d-85.961797!2d43.438922), which looks like it's well-kept and well reviewed, about 15 minutes from the launch.
Got a wedding invite in the mail last night for the same day. Not going to be able to make it...

So far, still off. Sounds like a good lake.
I'm planning on fishing as a boater.
I'm ready.
White Lake?
Fremont. It's a nice lake. Everyone should have a good time.

Couldn't possibly be worse weather than last year.
Don't say that... just in case.
It would have to be a hurricane to beat last year.
One of these years we need to do one on Muskegon. It's not hard to catch fish there in the fall.
Change in plans bosses wife is having surgery that week so I have to hang around in case of work issues. So I will not be able to make it.
Bummer.
To far for me. Hope you have great weather and the fish are biting.
