Cant help but be excited about the NOW upcoming season..... anybody plan to hit the MNF game? i swore i'd go if they got MNF again and here we are, never been to a Monday game, can't wait.
I will be happy with a 500 season.......They still have some holes to fill but it could be exciting to watch...I sure wouldn't want to have to run against them... ;D
Trying to pass against them will be no picnic, either. I'll bet that more than one QB will be having nightmares. Just ask Jake Delhomme, and D McNabb.
I'd love to go to the Monday Night game.
i for one am drinking the kool-aid...lots of it, i know its pre-season but gotta admit they looked pretty sharp Friday night. still questions on the OL and they couldve ran the ball better but gosh i cant wait for the regular season.
I'm looking for tickets ... who has them.
regular season go on sale next Wednesday.....
Too many optimistic people. If the Lions finish better than .500, I'll eat my hat...........as the saying goes. If Stafford doesn't get injured before Thanksgiving, it'll be a miracle. I say they are a 7 and 9 team at best. They will not make the playoffs. You heard it hear first on GreatLakesBass.com. It'll be another losing season for the sad sack Lions.
BD ;D
BD you are just taking the safe old way out. Take a risk! Live a little! I'm saying 8 and 8 but I probably won't be watching. The last time I was a real Lions fan Billy Sims was running the ball. Or maybe it was when Greg Landry was quarterback? I can't remember now.
DK, I am living a little and taking a risk by saying those sad sacks are going to win 7 games. If I don't say they will do very well, then I am not setting myself up for disappointment. I really stuck my neck out with optimism winning 7 games. I remember them making the playoffs when Billy Sims was playing.....and I think they made the playoffs with Greg Landry calling signals. I think I am going to stick to fishing on Sundays and not watching the Detroit **deleted**cats.

i agree, i think they've improved top to bottom in that category over the past couple years....just have to keep guys healthy - which brings us to the biggest question for them, the OL.
I think they go 9-7 this year.
I think 9 - 7 sounds about right. If a few chips fall their way, maybe a little better.
Unlike most, I don't have the same concerns about the Oline. If they can get healthy (and stay healthy), I think that they may surprise some folks.
Good to see some optimism!
10-6. I can remember my Father taking me to Tiger Stadium to watch them WIN! They are on thier way back
If they go 8-8, I would consider it a stellar season.
8-8 if stafford stays healthy 6-10 if he goes down again. Think your expectations are a bit high for this year, they are headed in the right direction but it will take a few years to get there and key players must stay healthy and thats a big if when it comes to Staffords glass shoulder with a suspect O-line.

This is the most intelligent statement I have seen so far in this thread. They will go 8 and 8 at best and if Stafford goes down.............again before Thanksgiving they could be worse than 6 and 10. But 6 and 10 is an intelligent prediction with a lot of thought behind it. If you have been watching the Lions as long as I have, you wouldn't have the confidence in them either. And yes it is going to be a few years until they become a winner that fans can take seriously. Let's face it, they barely beat the Browns the other night and they are a team in worse shape than the Lions.
BD ;D
I don't believe that it's fair to equate one's intelligence to one's optimism. That is especially true if you don't know a person's qualifications, or background.
Also, there just may be some that have watched the Lions for as long as you have.
I personally don't place too much stock in what happens in pre-season games. This is an evaluation period. It helps the coaching staff determine who plays, who sits, who stays, who goes.
Now, I am in no way trying to compare the 2011 Lions to the 2006 Colts, but in 2006 the Colts' pre-season record was 1-3, losing to the Rams, Seahawks, and Bengals. In 2005 they were 0-4, finishing 14-2. This is just to illustrate how the pre-season record has no bearing on the regular season.
In 2008 the Lions went 4-0 in the preseason.
I understand your opinion Vince. But it is what it is......an opinion. Just as my part of the thread is just that......an opinion. But we must always remember we are still talking about the Detroit Lions. It's never been the coaching here in Detroit. It's always been at the GM level. Although Martin Mayhew has done a better job than past GM's.
BD. ;D
The point that I was trying to make is that I understand the concept of "opinions". I also understand that there will be differing opinions. The difference is that if someone has an opinion that is different than mine, I would not say that it is less intelligent. It just may be that individual has developed his/her opinion based on observations (or facts) that I don't have.
I was thinking I recalled the years the Lions looked good in preseason they choked in the regular season after getting so many people's hopes up. So maybe if the barely win or lose a few preseason, they will surprise people in the regular season? Not that I would place any money on that... I don't have observations, facts or anything. Just distant memories.
I think it is good they didn't roll over Cleveland and really get everyone's hopes up. The good news is that it seems they have the potential for a .500 season and if you squeeze a win or two more than that, your in the playoffs. I'm psychic (or psychotic) so I can see into the future and that is far better than your lame opinions.

I see your point. My observations of the Lions has been because I have had season tickets for them since the early 80's. Crazy thing is that I always say that I am going to give them up. But I never do with the hope that they just might get it done. My observations are simply their track record which you know as well as I has not been very good. No one said that your opinion was intelligent or not. I gave my opinion based on 20+ years of observation. If they go 8 and 8 that again is an improvement. If they go 9 and 7 they may get in the playoffs as a wildcard. Going 10 and 6.............well I don't know about that. I think they'll go 7 and 9 at best. If they do better then I am in for season tickets again in the 2012 season. Even if they lose or have a losing season..............I'll probably be in for season tickets next year. I consider all opinions to be intelligent especially if there has been serious thought behind it.
As I said, if they go 9 and 7, I'll eat my hat. And I want cheese and mayo on that hat. :o ;)
BD ;D
I will be happy with a season that doesn't involve large brawls and shootings! ;D
Good to see some Lions fans here. Last year should have been 8-8. I will be disappointed in anything less than that for this year. Playoffs? probabally not, depends on the East and South, but i think it is possible. A healthy Stafford for the whole season will double the odds of getting in. That dude has a cannon. Defense will be better this year also. By the way, this is my 31st year of season tickets, and i'm as clueless as the rest of you.. :) So bummed about Killer.., that really hurts. Godspeed, Mr. Kowalkowski, and peace to all who loved him....

Booooohhh, Oh ye of little faith. When it comes to football, we Detroiters are easy to please. A 7 and 9 season would be an incredible accomplishment, but I am expecting more this year.

BigDog....
If you've been a football fan as long as you say then you should know. That not every 10-6 team is a great team. As well as every 6-10 team is not a crappy team.
Over the years I've seen some pretty sorry 10-6 teams. With injuries, penalties and mistakes some teams have better or worse records than they should.
With that said the Lions are an average team in the NFL if all goes well they could pull off a 10-6 or better season. However injuries are already taking a toll on this team. We have a suspect OL, LB, and DB corps that could all be downfalls to the season.
I have been a serious Lions fan for years. I just cant stop myself from seeing some hope in this team. I go to 3-5 home games a year and sometimes I catch an away game or two.
I believe this team is strong in some areas and I hope that those strenghs can off set our weaknesses. That is what great teams do.
Every team has holes, every team has injuries. We have some big holes and can't afford any more injuries.
I suspect that this team could make the playoff and I hope that things go our way enough to give us a winning season because I feel this team needs that confidence to build on. I would hate to see things go badly and this team to struggle through a 4-12 season.
So I say Go Lions!

No one will be more happy than I if they make the playoffs and actually win a couple of those games. Anthony, the great teams find a way to win. For the last 20 years the Lions have not been a team that finds ways to win. They find ways to lose.............be it a game mistake, or a weak defensive backfield or whatever. I just don't have the optimism that I always have tried very hard to have. They may be a good team.........but they're not a great team. I say "Go Lions" too but I remember this team in the not too distant past that won all the pre-season games, then lost all of the regular season games. I am not hanging my hat on whether the Lions win pre-season games or not. They need to win games in the regular season and they need to win more than half. They need to make the playoffs. I think they have a good coaching staff in place. I think Martin Mayhew couldn't do any worse than Matt Millen. That's where the problem has been with the Lions all the way back to Russ Thomas. Matt Millen was worse than Russ Thomas. Martin Mayhew was hired by Millen. I am willing to give Mayhew a chance to fix this team but he has much to prove. So far.....so good.....but........ ??? ???
If the Lions tank again this year, I will gloat till the cows come home. But if they win, you can gloat till the cows come home. And I'll man up and take it. I actually hope you can be the guy that says, "BD, I told you so". I hope you and bigjc are those guys. I say they won't make 8 and 8. The goal should be higher than that..........like..........make the playoffs. I say: Go Lions and good luck because that's what I think they'll need to make the playoffs. If the Lions make the playoffs, I'll be eating more than my hat. I'll be eating crow. I'd rather eat my hat except in the case of the Lions. If they win this year, I will probably be the happiest crow eating bass fisherman on Great Lakes Bass. :o
BD ;D
Don't get me wrong. I never said this team was great. I think their average. Meaning 7 to 9 wins is where I expect them to land. Yet it doesn't take much for an average team to win 10 games. Peter King projected the lions at 10-6 and a wild card team. Sporting news ranked this team 13th best in the NFL slightly above average.
I wouldn't be surprised if they won 7 games or 10 games.
I would be happy with a 9-7 playoff wild card.
I think this team would be set way back if they lost more than 9 games.
I'm rooting for a winning season.

That's where you're wrong. They are very much related. As long as the Ford's own the Lions, all we're going to get is the same old sad sacks. They have been making the same promises to the fans for years. Until people stop filling the seats at Ford Field, all we are ever going to get in Detroit is a mediocre football team at best. They don't have to win to make money. In this town they can lose and make money. Same old team from the past......you'll see.
They drafted a quarterback a couple of years ago when they needed linemen on both sides of the ball. They got Suh and that did make a difference, but it's time to build around that. They are suspect in the defensive backfield....................again. No running game..............again. A quarterback who is injury prone and they can't protect him. You watch, Stafford won't make it to Thanksgiving just like the last two years. Reminds me of Scott Mitchell. They couldn't protect him either and he never made it past Thanksgiving all the years he was here.
They beat a bad Buffalo team by only 10 points. They beat a worse Cleveland team by 2. Yeah, keep getting excited about a undefeated pre-season team. They were undefeated in the pre-season the year they couldn't win a regular season game. They big test starts next week. I hope I am wrong, but I have been watching these sad sacks with what seems like forever. Same ole same ole. You guys are so hungry for them to win that your judgement and common sense are clouded. I guess even in football, common sense ain't so common.
You guys act like they're going all the way to the big dance. Here's a reality check for you optimists..................NOT!!!! They are going to be the same ole sad sack Lions. But like I said.................I hope I'm wrong.
BD ;D
Please explain to me why an empty stadium will improve this ball team. It will not make a differance on how much money is spent on players, there's a salary cap. I'll agree that Ford and Russ Thomas ruined this team for decades, but they aint around no more. Mayhew & Lewand seem to have a plan working and by all accounts the "talking heads" think they are doing a great job. The team suffered from swithching coaches and philosophies every other year.(pro style, chuck & duck, westcoast, blah blah blah. For once it seems that the owner, gm's,and coaching staff are all together on how to go about turning this team into a respectable unit. Super bowl? not this year. Billy Sims? Scott Mitchell? C'mon man! You are living in the past. At least mention Barry for crying out loud. I couldn't care any less what the exhibition record is. It was fun watching Brady look like a deer in headlights though. Hopefully, the front 4 will help with their secondary problems, but every team has holes. GO LIONS!!!
What do you mean Ford isn't around?? Bill Ford still owns the team. The final decisions still rest with the owner. So far Mayhew and Lewand have made some solid decisions but I believe it was Ford that made the final decision on drafting Stafford. Not really a good move if you need linemen. Living in the past or not, it is all down to track record and that team has a lot to prove. Like I said, I hope I am wrong and you can rub all this in my face, but track record speaks for itself. I have been watching this team and had season tickets for years and I still got them. I still go to the games hoping that we will have a winner. Empty seats sends a message to the organization. That message is "go out start getting the personnel it takes to make it to the Super Bowl and win or we as fans are not going to come downtown and watch a bunch of sad sacks". Period. The last few years I have been selling individual games and making money on them and instead going fishing. More excitement in a day of fishing than watching the Lions I guess. By the way, any one who would like to buy tickets to the Lions games this year at Ford Field you can PM me. I have 4 tickets and parking pass. Tickets are in the lower level behind the Lions bench on the 45 yard line 10 rows up. Thanksgiving Day is not for sale. I go to that game religiously every year.
BD ;D
You make money selling Lions tickets? That's a pretty good trick. There was a time you couldn't give them away. (not that i tried) For Lions fans everywhere...i hope you're wrong dog...

Thanks to all for inquiring about my extra tickets. As quickly as I was willing to sell some games, they got bought up. I do have to say that the membership on GLB are an optimistic bunch. Even though I have been a season ticket holder for years and my Father before that, I have never seen the optimism that I have seen this year. I am not as optimistic. Realistically they may go 8 and 8 at best. They have one of the toughest schedules I have seen in a long time. I would like to see them go 9 and 7 or maybe 10 and 6 but I believe that is wishful thinking. More realistically 7 and 9 which will be an improvement over the 6 and 10 they were last year. It would be an accomplishment for them to finish 8 and 8 or better. Bottomline, they have to make the playoffs. I don't think that's happening. Like I said, you guys are an optimistic bunch..........but of course we are fishermen and we go out on the water with the optimism that we are going to catch 100 keeper bass every time...............at least I do.................but I am more optimistic about my fishing for bass than I am for the Lions.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. ~John Buchan
That says it pretty good for me. I don't think team sports are that much different.
Maybe you need a little optimism (and hope?) towards the Lions BD just to push them over the edge for a change? I have seen the worst team beat the best team way more than once. I've even seen the lowly Lions beat a 'much better' team a time or two or three in the past. People sometimes literally do what they believe they can do. It's easier to pull this off if you have everyone on your side.
I was upset with many things today I saw in the one sports team I follow but I told myself I refuse to give up on them and they pulled it off. Somehow. Maybe because so many other people also refused to give up on them? GO BLUE!!
I believe the Lions now win two more games than they were going to just because of the effort blakstr1 put into his Go Lions post! Way to stick with them blakstr!!

It's not much different for the pros DK. But my optimism is not going to carry them over. It's going to take some good sound mistake free football. I have seen all you have seen with the Lions. I remember years ago when they beat the Dallas Cowboys who were in their hay day. Beat them at the Silverdome too. No one thought that would happen. Also the Lions had 12 men on the field when they scored to win that game and the refs didn't catch it. You can't put the Wolverines in the same catagory as the Lions. They have been to plenty of bowl games since the 1950's. The Lions haven't been to the playoffs half as much as the Wolverines have been to bowl games.
I said it once and I'll say it again. You are an optimistic bunch and I hope I am wrong. Might be the best "crow" I ever ate. :P

8) My pleasure. Overall pleased with the game, love the defense and the o-line did good too. still a couple stupid personal fouls and dropped passes but i think the overall team is so much better that they can compensate for the stupid mistakes.....as long as they get out of their system before we meet a team like Green Bay, or maybe even Chicago.
We need to figure out a way to get Calvin Johnson to sign up to GLB.....i know he loves fishing, he was in a deep see fishing contest at the pro bowl last year.

Quit acting like they won the Super Bowl. Geez!!! You're very pre-mature. I am still not convinced. Inside of two minutes to go they were doing what ever they could to lose. Fortunately for the Lions the clock ran out. They still could have lost. I am happy they have a 5 game winning streak. They were lucky this time. A better team would have beat them. They let Tampa Bay get within striking distance. The Lions were lucky those last two penalties didn't hurt more. It could have. I will like the Lions when they make the playoffs and win a couple of games there...............no sooner. Unfortunately it won't be this year. Tampa Bay is probably the weakest team on the schedule. The real tests are coming. No one would like to see them have a winning season more than I. But this is just not the year. They have a long, long way to go. The Chiefs next week at the home opener is going to give them all they can handle. They may beat the Chiefs, but the Chiefs are making much bigger strides toward turning their club around than the Lions. The Lions are going to have their hands full with them.
BD ;D
BD - what specific strides do you think the lions need to make now in their players and coaching staff?
I'm thinking a power back but they had that covered before the recent draft pick went down. WR's look great. D-line is awesome. Pretty impressed with the linebackers after game one. This is were we struggled last year. I guess the secondary might still be suspect.
The offense and special teams gave up 10 points last week and if that didn't happen, Tampa wasn't even in the game statistically. They were outplayed and over matched by the Lions.
Cheifs, Falcons, 49ers, and Broncos don't look so tough, splits within our division, and an upset at Caro,or Raiders, or Saints....9-7. Dog is probabally correct that past Lions teams would have blown the game, but T-bone IS correct.."outplayed and overmatched" is pure sweetness in my book.

First of all let's not get too carried away here detroit1. They almost blew the game in the last 2 minutes. Football is a 2 minute game and close games are usually won or lost in the last 2 minutes. Outplayed and over matched......maybe so but the two penalties in the last 2 minutes could have been the difference. Even the head coach was upset about the way they played in the last 2. However, a win is a win. In a 7 point game with Carolina, the Raiders, or the Saints, the Lions will lose in the last two minutes. The Lions will not beat any of those teams. Splits within the division will be with Minnesota..........maybe................da Bears..............maybe................but they will lose to the Packers both home and away. Historically, the Chiefs have given the Lions trouble, the Falcons have too although the Lions should win that game, I can't remember when the Lions last beat the Niners, and I don't think they have ever beaten the Broncos. A Lions win is pure sweetness in my book even if it is winning ugly. 9 and 7 detroit1, I hope your right. Realistically detroit1.............more like 7 and 9.

Specifically, they have no running game. Didn't have one even if their injured draft pick was healthy. They need to beef up that offensive line. As soon as the other teams start watching the game tapes of the Lions, Stafford's going to be sacked more times than any other quarterback in NFL history. They can't protect him. They haven't been able to protect their quarterback for years. The offensive line is also the key to the running game. Barry Sanders was good because he was faster than anyone else including his own offensive line. If they want Stafford to stay healthy, they have to protect him. Also, the special teams need more. What more, I don't know but they can't give up 10 points in every game because then they may only end up 6 and 10.
So in a nutshell, offensive line, a running back that's strong and fast, and better performance from the special teams. In all reality, they are not that far off from being a good team. Remember, the good teams always find a way to win. Plus when the game is on the line, winners want the ball.
Now you want to talk about teams that know how to win when the game is on the line, then let's talk Red Wings and Tigers. I think the Ford's should sell the Lions to Ilitch. He is the best owner in pro sports bar none.
BD ;D
Well...Welll...Well...maybe these Det. Lions are for real!!! They didn't beat the Cheifs, they pounced on them and feasted!!!
GO LIONS>>>On to the Vikings!!!
I saw a huge crow on the edge of a building yesterday. He said to tell someone, "CAW!"
I haven't seen the Lions look like that in so long... I can't even remember when it was!?!
Has Stafford been sacked yet this year? I know he's been knocked down a few times, but who doesn't. That's two teams last year with 10 - 6 records the Lions have beat. Realizing your in denial, bigdog, is the first step in recovery.....there's something special goin' on around here...embrace it .....
9 and 7 is a reality, but 11 wins or more is not out of the question. Lets see how it goes when we get to teams like Chicago and Green Bay.
I played backyard football once (looonngg time ago) with some recently ex-college football players. Never been hit so hard. Worst I ever hurt after a football game. I do not want to be hit by a big ole NFL player! I saw the look on Stafford's face after the hit in the back! Ouchy...
I heard this morning that if the Lions beat Minnesota this week (which they should) it will be the first 3-0 start since 1980? That is an awful long time to not get off to a good start of a season. The 45 point win was the most in a long time too... things are looking up for the Lions.
I think they'll win 11 games this years based on what I saw Sunday.
Now they are 3 and 0. They shouldn't be. Two false start penalties. Almost got a safety on them. They let the Vikes climb right back into it. Lucky they pulled it off. I always have said from the start of this topic was "When the game is on the line, good teams find a way to win." The Lions just might be a good team. :o :o :o Only 13 more games to prove it.
BD ;D
BIG crow flew over the car today! BIG ONE!! ;D
I will say that it wasn't the prettiest victory I've ever seen, but another one in the "W" column anyway.
The lions gained a bit more credibility beating a team that they have not defeated in years!

Yeah, there were two in the yard late in the afternoon around 5pm with Lions jerseys on. That's ok, I'll just have to win another contest. :o
BD. ;D
Really - "they let the Vikes climb back into it?"
The Vikes let the Lions climb back. The Vikings should have been able to shut down the lions in the second half and get any easy win. BD you have a strange perspective on these games ;-)

Just wanted to see who was paying attention t-bone. I saw enough in the last two minutes that told me they didn't deserve to win. Two stupid penalties. Another play for a loss and almost a safety. That's pretty sloppy with less than a minute to go and that was after the Vikes tied it at 23. If you remember, the Vikes kicked that kickoff after the tying FG deep in the end zone for a touchback. Two quick false starts and it's first and 20. Two run plays from scrimmage with the first one being a loss of 7 and I believe it was the second one where they almost got burned for a safety. After all that it was luck. Winning the toss at the beginning of OT and taking the ball down the field for FG position. Hanson who has been solid all year puts it through for the win. Now if this were the playoffs, the Vikes would get possession and they would get their chance to win it with a touchdown. But the rules don't change until playoff time. So the Lions get lucky. Lucky. Lucky. Lucky.
BD ;D
BD - you're killing me :D
It was one of those games where the lions D wore down the vikings in the first half and took over in the second half but they ran out of steam on the final drive. The Vikings did just the opposite, the pressed in the first half and they ran out of steam. We did learn that a solid runningback like A.P. will give us problems - we can't pass rush with abandon every down.
A little luck never hurt! But they are a much better team in fact they are a really good team, that is the bottom line. They are going to make mistakes, the whole league is right now (lock out), they are going to be sloppy from time to time, the whole league is (lock out) bottom line is the win / loss column and the injury report. They withstood the Vikings first half surge in Minnesota and won, that win was impressive (even though it shouldnt have been that close) They do need to get the OL shored up or i fear bad things are on the horizon.... They only need to go 7-6 from here on out to finish with double digit wins, how does this team not win at least 7 more...i dont see it even if their final 8 games of the year are some of the toughest (on paper) in the NFL. I think they are better than a lot of us want to believe, with the history that surrounds this organization i can see it. Heck this could all be over quicker than it started (although i think this team is setting itself up to win for a while) so for all of the guarded fans, harboring years of disappointment, its time to let your guard down and enjoy our Lions...the NFL turn over on playoff teams is so great year after year, better take the good teams for all they are worth while you have the chance.
February will be HOT when the HONOLULU BLUE invade Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for Superbowl XLVI...okay even i admit that is way over optomistic...but c'mon they are my team, they are your team....they are MICHIGAN's team and i for one am proud to call them that! :o
;D
I think BD has some dust on his TV screen so he's not getting a clear look at the action. That's all ;D
Dust on the screen or not, the fact is they almost blew it. My clear look at the action was the last 1:11 in the game when they took two rookie penalties from a veteran and then almost lost on a safety. The Vikes climbed back in the game and then tied the game at 23. As I said previously, in the playoffs the Vikes would have been given a chance possess after the Lions took the lead. They haven't won the Super Bowl yet fellas. Blakstr, you need to share what you're smoking so I can have the same disillusions of grandeur that you have. I just don't see it.
So lets not put the "cart before the horse". You keep talking like this, you're libel to jinx them. So far Karma is on their side. I hope it stays with them, but they are going into Dallas this weekend and no matter how good or how bad Dallas is, the Lions have trouble against them. I say the Lions get a wake up call and Dallas takes em. I hope I see more crows with Lions jerseys on................ :P
BD ;D

Yes he is. I am glad he has that much confidence. Me, I've been around a few years. The Lions let a GM get away from them, that ended up with da Bears and then built a few Super Bowl Champions. Yeah, he wasn't around during the Russ Thomas years. Russ wasn't as bad as Millen, but he was a pretty bad GM. Yeah, blakstr1 wasn't around then. He doesn't know the pain I feel with this. Yeah I'm old.....older than dirt.....dirt ain't got nothing on me. Yeah it's been painful for quite a few years for me. I went to my first Lions game 45 years ago at Tiger Stadium. I'll bet he wasn't alive when the Lions played there. I remember when they moved to Pontiac in the dome. I remember the first game I went to there. It was cold and rainy and the roof wasn't done yet. They never made it to the Super Bowl during those years. I'm afraid I'm going to die before they win one. Blakstr1, t-bone, how would you like to be carrying that burden around for 40 years. So please excuse me if I don't jump on the Lions bandwagon with you guys so quickly.
BD. ;D

So please excuse me if I don't jump on the Lions bandwagon with you guys so quickly. i can appreciate that BD, but the bandwagon is pretty full right now anyway....but never fear, if (i'll hold back saying "when" becasue of that Karma thing you mentioned) they can go into Big D and beat
America's Team (boo-hiss) then we will hook a little caboose on the back of the wagon....i'll reserve a spot for you ;D
All joking aside, the 1st 3 wins are in the books, dont want to over analyze them now, in my mind this week is their biggest test yet. They have opened eyes all around the league already but if they can get to 4-0 with 3 of those wins happening on the road....man.....(chills) 8)
like the Christmas cartoon 'Twas the Night Before Christmas says:
HOPE is like a dream you make, its a dream when your awake, EVERYONE needs hope because, HOPE believes in THE DETROIT LIONS......or something like that :D

Lions played at old Tiger Stadium until 1974.......I was born in 1976 8)

Yes, they might have been lucky over Minn. Who isn't lucky once in a while? Well, it used to be the Lions. No luck whatsoever, for about as long as i'm old. The old lions would never have won that game. It's too bad you must wait for 16 games to figure out that they are a good team. But, i appreciate bd's frame of mind, since i've had to deal with that with my buds. But enjoy it man-we've waited sooo long. I like our chances this week in Dallas, their 2 rookie o-lineman has our d-line salivating. GO LIONS!
Were you born there?!? ;D
Ever hear that country comedian song about the kid born at the race track where the crowd all cheers when he's born (to race) and he's named after all the famous race car drivers and then Johnson JR!! Kind of funny!
I post this in honor of your hope!

You know whats weird? All game long I knew they would come back to beat Dallas!!
Yeahhhh BABBEEEE. They are really starting to look like contenders.
was out fishing on my lake catching lots of fish on spinnerbaits in the wind. came in at 1/2 time and the wife and her parents were not happy. told them no problem they would come back and win it. and they did. Now the tigers are winning 2-0. Got to get me a TV on the Ranger.
You know what is really scary about the Lions is that they are winning and still making a lot of mistakes. I'm beginning to think that this is showing how much potential this team really has. Imagine when they put together a complete and mistake free game - holy crap...
10-6 seems like it is actually too low of a goal at this point.
What a great sports weekend - tigers split, lions comeback, MSU beats OSU, Michigan stomps Minnesota... and the Wings open this Friday with the Lions on Monday Night Football!
Caridac Cats...... I think the sun is actually shining brighter than it ever has this morning...seriously even the few clouds out are in the shape of Lions...well a few look like footballs too and that one looks like a mushroom but oh well. ;D
This team shows a lot of heart, only negative i can come up with right now (put aside any of the mistakes and penalties) is that they have trouble coming out of the gate, why are they getting down so far in the first half? oh well cant wait to get down to Ford Field for this Monday Night Game, the house will be a rockin'!!
We are actually heading down Sunday and staying until Tuesday, getting the full Detroit experience.
Yeah i fished in the morning, thinking i listen to the first half, and make it home before the second half. Started at 8, no bites until 10:30, then got 3 lm and a pike. Now it's 11:45, the bite is coming around, but i can't stand missing any of the lions, so i went home. Guess i could've stayed, but then i wouldn't enjoy the comeback (or melt-down). GO LIONS! (where's BD?) later....

Having fresh crow for dinner detroit1. I do have to say that there are more and more crows showing up in my back yard lately all wearing Lions jerseys. Remember the seasons not over yet. Only 12 more games to go. I will be going to my first game this season on Monday Night against da Bears. Looking forward to it. If the Lions lose, you can all say I jinxed them by going to the game.

Need a new poll. Fast forward to after MNF.
What? Do you want to change your vote or have everyone have a chance to change their votes?
The second thing.

And you heard it here first on GreatLakesBass.com : Next year the Lions use their high 20s (25th or higher) first round draft pick on a left side O lineman................
I guess BD didn't jinx the LIONS on Monday night!!!!
Who knows?!? Maybe he was good luck!
This is for BD - sit back and enjoy... Millenball

He's long gone, right?!?
well we all knew they couldnt go 16-0....pretty disappointed in the offense yesterday and maybe the play calling, (CJ wasnt used much in the red zone even if he was being tripled covered) made it to the game again yesterday and we the fans were super loud again, it just seemed like there may have been a bit of a let down after that Monday night game by the players. Hoping for a decent rebound against a good Falcons team. I will say the 49ers are good, but i think the Lions made them look a lot better than they really are yesterday. CONTINUE TO BELIEVE.. GO Lions.!
I agree with the parts of the game I saw. You were all pretty loud! Things were off all weekend. Maybe it's out of the system now? Gives us a chance to see what they're made of. Hopefully, good stuff.
One games doesn't make a season unless you let it.
good point DK, would rather take a loss like this early in the season than late, now they can adjust and maybe ground them a bit if overhype was a problem? anyway GO LIONS
I think there was a bit of a Monday night hangover going on. The one thing I picked up during the game is how Stratford gets pretty nervous if you get to him early and keep the pressure dialed up. He looked uncomfortable in the pocket.
They pretty much gave up in the last few minutes too... I didn't like that at all.
But if they learn from this and adjust, then I'll give them this one...
