I read that all our fishing and hunting licence fees are going to double next year. Also the senoir rates are going from $6.00 to $24.00 there goes the fisherpeople on fixed incomes. I know I have heard alot of hunters say that they will quit hunting if that happens.
Remember you don't quit fishing when you get old, you get old when you quit fishing

stack, there's a few more details on the conservation board here: http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?topic=1537.0

I have the entire study document and have been going through it. I had planned on posting the link to it for anyone who wants to look at the whole study and plan, with the proposed fees. Not all licenses will double. Fishing annual resident only goes up 33% from $15 to $20 I believe.

I had made comments on here last year that our MDNR said they were almost broke for general operating and would need to raise fees to keep basic programs going. They had already made a number of cuts.

I will post more information on the conservation/legislation board, especially if I find something useful to us in this process.

I remember back when they raised the price and taxes on cigarettes.  there were quite a few claims of quitting then too!

i'm going restricted in 07'...no sense in a all species licence when i usally only catch bass, crappies and panfish.Maybe i'll Add onto it during the year if i ever go someplace when/if i'm strictly fishing salmon and trout with somebody.

Matt,

I don't know for sure... but I always thought... we are required to have an all species liscense if we are fishing in waters that hold fish that would require a trout stamp even though we are not targeting them.

Something to check on... maybe someone knows for sure... I would just hate to see someone get a ticket.

You don't need the additional licensing if you don't plan on targeting trout or salmon. Of course, if you are throwing 'known' trout or salmon lures in designated trout waters... then you might have some 'splaining to do...

I do throw alot of panther martin lures which are salmon/trout lures, but panfish and crappies love em as well.I don't know if the lake i usally fish has salmon or trout,i've never caught one.

djkimmel

matt - don't worry unless it is a designated trout lake - usually there are signs around these lakes and rivers. You can always check the trout guide available wherever you buy fishing licenses to be sure.
