We found that throughout the week the mile roads were more for numbers and decided to spend the majority of our time fishing for less bites for bigger fish. Our numbers were way down from the previous years but a good majority of the fish we caught were in the 4-6lb class. We had an area where females would feed on perch under certain condition early but there was almost always a late bite and we made sure we were there when it happened. This was very strange weather  throughout the week almost every day was the same with a 10-20mph ESE wind this kept the roads and anchor bay with 1-3ft visability and water temps jumped quickly throughout the week. Even though the surface temps were there I dont think they were spawning yet.
The highlight of my trip ended up being a story of "The one that got away" I went to st clair chasing smallies but little did I know the fish that I wish I put in the boat more than any ended up being a monster musky. A once in a lifetime fish got away as my buddy Jason tried to net the beast but only the head would fit. As the fish slipped back out the hooks on my rattle bait got hung in the net and ripped free of the musky and I fell to my knees in disbelief. I was fortunate to land a 51 incher years ago and this fish was much bigger. My buddy Brian who was also with us and has seen many big st clair muskies throughout the years estimated it to be 55 inches and 40+ pounds. The only evidence is the video that they started from a phone after the first showing of how big it was. Unfortunately never really got a good shot of her. Cant post it here due to the language but its on my facebook page if you want to take a look.
Back to the smallies, there were many 5s we didnt get pics of during the frenzies but here are a few we took the time to take. I think 3 or 4 of them were around 6 1/4 pounds.
