A strange thing happened on Kent yesterday
« on: October 10, 2013, 07:21:52 PM »

So yesterday I am fishing along and decide to throw a chatterbait.  Get one out of the package tie it on and start casting.  about the 5th cast in 2 feet of water along a weed clump a really nice bass grabs it and takes off.  He jumps and as he is hitting the water the bait flies out of his mouth and the line breaks.  I watch the bait fall to the bottom and the bass swims down and picks it up.  He starts swimming off with my bait.  I have the trolling motor on high and can see the trailer hanging out of his mouth.  He swims to deep water and he and my bait are gone.

I get another bait out and when I go to tie it on I see 1/2 the brass snap that came on the bait tied to my line.  The brand new snap broke.  I cut it off and might send it to Z-man with the story.

If you are on Kent lake and catch a nice bass with my bait in it tell it I said Hi...

Wow, I've never had a snap break on a Z-Man chatterbait, but I have had a brand new one straighten on my after only about the thrid cast.  I change all the snaps on my chatterbaits nowbefore I even use them.

Couple things come to mind:
1. Snaps of any kind don't usually break on bass ??
2. Bass aren't real smart - why don't we catch more of them more often ??

PS Maybe your bass is thinking about taking up bass fishing? ;D

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
