Ok so I love to throw senkos wacky rigged, it's my confidence bait to be sure.  Even more confidence is in the person who poors them.  In this case I was throwing a Kent Lake Killer made by our very own Poorboy under the supervision of Jcheetam, supplies, dinner and expert guidance provided by Joshimoto.  (How in the heck could you not catch fish on a senko with that kind of backing???)

As of late, I havent been happy with the hooks I had been using, not as good of a hookup ratio as I'd like.  So, I have been reading up on a few boards and experimenting.  I think I read on here, or on the Bass resource site about using a Gami drop shot/finesse wide gap hook for wacky rigging.

I dont know how many of you already use this hook for this presentation but if you dont - you should.  Hands down this is the best I've come across.  My first fish rigged this way I caught a 4 inch blue gill.  Ok that might sound funny but I hooked him dead in the mouth.  How many hooks can you do that with on a 5 or 6 inch senko?

My second fish rigged with this hook was a 4 lb LM out of Michigan Center lake tonight.  Ok, I dont know why but for some reason tonight the bass were biting very light and you could get them halfway to the boat and assume it was about a 4 inch perch, they would either run right at you or just not even put up a fight.  So I get a bite, and as a matter of routine I'm just reeling in fast as I can to get this stupid dink off my 8 lb test med/light rig when he sees me, I see him, he sees my boat and says there's no way I'm joining you on that boat.  Slam he takes off, jumps a couple of times and the fight is on.  Mid fight I notice that I have him barely lip hooked as far out on the edge of the lower lip as you can get and I immediately get dissappointed because I know it's going to be a short fight with him laughing all the way back to the stump.

Very long story (I know) short - I land him and go to routinely take the hook out because it looked like it was about to fall out anyway.  I ended up having to grab my gerber tool and wrench the hook out.  It would NOT come out.

Now that is a good hook....I will never look back.
