RECORD BREAKING NEWS: FLW FANTASY FISHING'S $3 MILLION POWERHOOK IN PLAY

Connecticut Machinist Has Potential of Winning $3 Million

PITTSBURGH (Aug. 1, 2009) – Heading into the final two days of the Forrest Wood Cup presented by BP and Castrol on the Three Rivers in Pittsburgh, all eyes in the world of fantasy sports are carefully watching the final results of the world's richest professional bass fishing tournament where America's best bass pros are competing for the sports largest prize, $1 million. That's because FLW Fantasy Fishing's $3 million PowerHook game is in play and more than $6 million could be won this weekend.

William "Bill" Slavis, a machinist from Torrington, Conn., is the only FLW Fantasy Fishing player in the world to have selected five of the final top 10 anglers in the Forrest Wood Cup. He could win $3 million if the five bass pros he has selected finish first through fifth in the Forrest Wood Cup in the exact order that Slavis selected them. Slavis will learn if he's won the $3 million PowerHook on Sunday evening, Aug. 2, during the final weigh-in of the Forrest Wood Cup from Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh at 5 p.m. The $3 million PowerHook was new for the 2009 FLW Fantasy Fishing season culminating at the world championship of bass fishing, the Forrest Wood Cup. FLW Fantasy Fishing (), is international online game played in 123 countries worldwide.

"FLW Fantasy Fishing has been a phenomenal success breaking all records throughout all fantasy sports games and most importantly, bringing unparalleled attention to our sport of bass fishing and its 50 million licensed anglers throughout the United States," said Irwin L. Jacobs, Chairman of FLW Outdoors and creator of FLW Fantasy Fishing. "Over the past two years Fantasy Fishing has provided life-changing moments to many of the FLW Fantasy Fishing participants and their families, and now there is another historical life-changing opportunity for an individual to win the $3 million cash PowerHook."

It would be quite a birthday present should Slavis win the $3 million PowerHook. The single, avid bass angler turns 46 today (Sat., Aug. 1). He made his $3 million PowerHook picks just two weeks ago, as the deadline approached for selecting the top five finishers of the Forrest Wood Cup. Slavis credits Player's Advantage, an online research tool, in helping him research and select his five anglers for the $3 million PowerHook.

The anglers selected from first to fifth place by Slavis for the Forrest Wood Cup are:

   1.    Team Kellogg's pro Dave Lefebre of Union City, Pa.
   2.    Michael Iaconelli of Runnemede, N.J.
   3.    Team Chevy pro Larry Nixon of Bee Branch, Ark.
   4.    Team BP pro David Walker, of Sevierville, Tenn.
   5.    Greg Hackney, of Gonzales, La.

Slavis has been invited to Pittsburgh by FLW Outdoors to be in attendance for the final two days of the Forrest Wood Cup, and to take part in a ceremony where FLW Fantasy Fishing will award $1 million in cash to the season's winning player who has accumulated the most points over its six tournament season of the Walmart FLW Tour.

At the conclusion of the weekend, the professional angler that weighs in the largest two-day cumulative weight could win up to $1 million cash. The overall winner of FLW Fantasy Fishing for 2009 will be awarded $1 million Saturday and the grand-daddy of them all, Slavis, who could win $3 million in cash with his perfect selection of the top five finishers of the Forrest Wood Cup.

All told, FLW Outdoors could potentially award more than $6 million this weekend in cash prizes if Slavis wins the PowerHook.
