The poorly written, damaging to Michigan Sport Fishing commercial fishing bills have been introduced again. State House Bills 5801 and 5802, introduced by Rep. Dave Prestin and Rep. Jason Morgan, have been assigned to the House Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism.

This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

$50 question for PoorBoy

Recently my crew and I built a deck on the river near a popular tournament launch site. (I cannot be any more specific.) The entire area where we were working was littered with old concrete blocks, large stones and old patio blocks.
As Gordon Maquire said, "I seen my duty and done it!" Through out the day I managed to pitch the whole mess of rocks and concrete out into the river off the end of the pier. One of my guys, I'll call him Bill, (what I've been calling him isn't proper on this site), was whining the entire day about my lack of attention to the task at hand. I did, however, create a wonderfull place for Mrs. Smallie to spend some time in case I should ever visit here again.
The next morning after my arrival at the local diner for coffee I discovered to my horror that Bill had told the entire table of my handiwork the day before, including exact location! This table almost always contains 5 or 6 guys that own bass boats. By now the whole county knows.
When I collected the invoice for the deck from the home owner he was so delighted with our work that he gave me a $200 tip for me and the boys. That figures to 50 a man. I have declined to give any portion to Bill even though he's squealed like a scalded dog.
You make the call on this one PoorBoy, do I give him the 50 or put gas in my boat?( Keep in mind I'm down to 1/4 tank.)
Look past what they want you to see.

I'm personally ambivalent about Bill. I work with a Bill (ubernerd) and one is enough for me! I do think you should PM me the location of your dumping so I can determine legality and make sure you did not impede boating in any way. Of course, I will not share this with any other parties that don't already now (pretty much everyone except me).

In order to correctly answer this question, i will need to investigate this area of the river with the concrete.  Please send me the GPS coordinates and give me a couple days.  I will check the spot out, determine whether or not it is worth stiffing the guy out of the money, and give you a full write up on the situation shortly thereafter.

PoorBoy himself :-\'

And I'll go along for the legality impedance thingy...

I can't believe there's still 2 guys left in the state who haven't heard all the specifics. I kinda expect to see it in the Free Press on Saturday.

I gave him his 50 - but I have a devious plan in mind for the not too distant future. (It involves 3 guys, 1 roof and 1 guy with a tube rod.)
Will keep you posted.

Just remember please - there's a fine line between a fun prank and a felony...
