The poorly written, damaging to Michigan Sport Fishing commercial fishing bills have been introduced again. State House Bills 5801 and 5802, introduced by Rep. Dave Prestin and Rep. Jason Morgan, have been assigned to the House Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism.

This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

McCarter

For anyone who does not know me, my name is Brian McCarter.? I am a 27 year old fishing finatic.? To be more specific, i am a 27 year old bass fishing finatic.? I dont get into walleye fishing ( seems to complicated for my simple mind ), or pike/muskie fishing.? You wont see me out panfishing, or targeting catfish or carp.? I keep it pretty simple.

I live in Wixom, MI with my fiance and two dogs misha and croix ( both puggles which are a mix of a pug and a beagle ).? My girl is surpisingly very supportive of my fishing habits, tho it can get skittish at times.? But i do my best to keep things going smooth at home and feel i am getting better all the time.? She has agreed to marry me after 6 years of 'courting' or whatever you crazy kids are calling it these days.? So as long as i dont screw it up, we will be married on August 18, 2006.

Some of you may know me as madman24 from the LSCN.net forum pages.? In the past i was very active on that website, but for personal reasons limit my activity there to just browsing now.

But my posts are about the same under the PoorBoy name on these forums as they were on the LSCN.? I aim to please and i try to help whenever i can.? I try to do as many fishing reports as time and memory will allow, if i have input on questions asked in other posts i try to share when i can, and above all i try to bring some humor into most of the stuff i post.? I am a goof ball by nature and try to have fun with life.? I like to think i take after my late Grandpa E.? He was my best friend and he had a great sense of humor which rubbed off on me.

Over the past 2 years, I have tried to get involved in the fishing industry anywhere and everywhere i can.? I rep for several fishing related companies from an award winning rod maker all the way down to custom tackle makers.? I sold boats for a season and hope to get back into it in the future.? I volunteer time for charity events, I volunteer time for Bass Pro Shops and Gander Mountain to help with sales events.? And i have even done a few seminars.? My primary goal is to someday make a living in the fishing industry.? I cant think of a better way to spend my life than to be doing something i LOVE.

As far as tournament fishing goes, i guess you could say i am still pretty new at it.? I fished my first tournament in 2002.? Just the one, and my partner and i ended up getting falsly accused of something and disqulified.? Long story, but it left me with a bad taste in my mouth and didnt fish another tournament that season.? Then in 2003 we decided to try it again, this time fishing a tournament on LSC with the NBAA.? We had fun, met some great people, and cashed a check.? I think it was from that moment on that i was hooked on competitive bass fishing.? I joined the American Bass Anglers in 03 and have been fishing the trail ever since.? I co direct two districts ( D7 southeast michigan and D69 Big Water ).? I have met some great people and made a ton of friends fishing with this trail.? I also fished the BFL in 03 as a non boater.? This is where i met Dan.? I had already known who he was from his posts on the LSCN but this was the first time i got to meet him.? And as an added bonus, got to spend the day on the water with him on day 1of the Super tournament.? I hope to get back into the BFL as a boater as soon as money allows.

So thats about it.?

But i would like to say that it is an honor to have my own section on the forums.? I will do my best not to disappoint and promise to always keep a positive flow going in 'the playhouse'.?

Does this mean you can add "Host of Poorboy's Playhouse" to "Accomplishments" on your fishing resume?  :D

Jeff

McCarter

I dont have any room left on my resume after all the BS i have added voer the past 2 years ;D

I guess i could edit the 2001 BASS Angler of the Year and Classic Qualifier off and add the Playhouse host thingy.  I dont think anyone bought that anyway.

"Allow myself to introduce..............myself"

I love that line...

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

:D Technology baby...it changes so quickly.? Pretty soon I won't even have to cut and paste photos in Photoshop...it'll just read my mind and post ridiculously bad photos on the Web for me...
