The poorly written, damaging to Michigan Sport Fishing commercial fishing bills have been introduced again. State House Bills 5801 and 5802, introduced by Rep. Dave Prestin and Rep. Jason Morgan, have been assigned to the House Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism.

This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

We are a club of about 25 active participants and we are always looking for new members. Here is a little bit of our history and how we operate.

The club was formed in the late 70's buy a few guys who were active bass fisherman and decided they liked that new thing Ray Scott was doing with tournaments. They formed a club and came up with a mission statement that is still in use today.

Our club is comprised of both boaters and non-boaters who all compete against each other in 6 different tournaments a year. We take you 5 best finishes and use them for our MR.Bass standings and to qualify for the end of the year classic.

We are not a big money club. Our dues are $30 annually and our tournaments are $25. If you win a tournament you usually walk away with right around $200 with the club payout and all of the side bet action. SO, it is not big money, but just enough to keep it exciting at weigh in time.

We are based in Taylor Michigan and hold our meetings the 3rd Wednesday of the month. All of our tournaments are within a 100 mile radius of I94 and I75.

If you would like to join us send me or AnglingAxeMan a pm and we will get you started. Also keep checking this board for our newsletter, tournament schedule and results and a few other exciting new things.

Kevin,

I'm here at work on my lunch and found this forum. I would like to join the club this year. Please give me a call. 734 311-2311. I do not have the internet at home but I do have an e-mail at work. tkvalead@yahoo.com.  Also have a new partner this year for fishers of men, my son John Buckley. He's my stepson. I'll be working the fishers of men booth at the fishing show in Novi. Hope to see you and Mark there.
