Title: Hot Pond Die-off
Post by: Skulley on April 03, 2011, 01:55:03 PM
A good friend of mine who is the tournament director of the All-Star Angler Tournament Trail on Lake Erie got a report from a MDNR CO.  Apparently there was such a large shad die-off in December that it plugged up the water intake for the power plant.  When they shut down the plant for a few weeks to clean up the water intakes, the water temp dropped very quickly and fish started to die.  According to the DNR, the bass in the pond were not harmed as bad as some of the other species that live there.  But it did have an effect along with the water levels dropping as they usually do that time of year.  Hopefully, the hot pond will bounce back strong in the coming months.
