Title: Howling winds and cold rain don't keep the kids from the Big Ten from the Fun
Post by: djkimmel on October 02, 2010, 10:49:19 PM
Well. Sorry no pictures today. No way I want to get out the camera in this weather. It wouldn't last long between the waves and the rain. Despite less the ideal conditions, we are surrounded by a great bunch of young adults who still found ways to just enjoy being out fishing.

More of the same with gale force wind warnings tonight through tomorrow evening so we've moved the tournament tomorrow to the Algonac North Channel boat launch from 8 AM until 4 PM. Fishing will be limited to the marked river channels from out in the lake at the channel markers back up to Stag Island (though I hope no one actually makes the run tomorrow, especially considering we are fishing US waters only).

Now it is getting about that time to get some sleep.

Sounds bad but I am sure the fellows will make the best of it!!

Lots of good largies in the channels out of the river so they should still catch them!!

Go MSU!!!!

I was with one of the Illinois teams and we worked our butts off but came back with a zero in my boat. We made long runs and burned one tanks of gas. The kids fished hard and never gave up. We did the river on Saturday and caught a mixed bag of fish - northern, muskie, white fish, perch and a couple smallies. Fishing was tough!

Speared a wave on Saturday and the kids thought that was "Fun". I tried to explain that it isn't what you want to do, but luckily it was at the end of the day and made it exciting for a little bit.

Great group of kids and a nice experience. They drove 7 hours on Friday after class. Got a few hours sleep and fished hard on the weekend.
