Do you think a local can pull this one off? If so, vote for one of those above. Make a post too saying who you picked and why if you like. Or if you want to pick someone who's not on this list.
If you post your choice with pounds and ounces, and get it right, or whomever gets the right person and closest weight to actual will win a prize from GreatLakesBass.com. Good luck!
I vote for Chad. ;)
My Choice is Trevor. He won a Stren as a Co and fished pretty well from the front in both FLW Tour events up there. Is Mark Modrak fishing? He would be my second choice because it will be won on St.Clair
My guess for total weight will be 61.8
I know both Dave Reault and Chip Harrison have Fish in LSC....I also know a local guy that just got in that will probably put a scare into the pros....I won't mention his name because I don't want him to get a big (or bigger) head... ;D
Hopefully I get a first hand look at the winning fish from the back of the boat....I just need 3 castoffs.. ;D
I think in this tournament I would rather draw a good local than a Touring Pro....
I am going with Ryan Said, 3 day total weight will be 55lbs and 6oz. He came in 3rd 2 weeks ago and knows these waters pretty good.
I didn't vote for Vandam but he did win the open last year out of Sandusky I believe it was......And is it his dad or Uncle that holds the Ohio state record smallmouth??...And most of all he is a Vandam.......HMMMMMM can I change my vote...??
Harrison cranking with 57 lbs.
I voted for Ryan Said. Out of the list, I think he has the greatest chance. I think the weights are going to be a bit higher though. 59.2
I'm going with reault and 62 lbs. or myself with 55 lbs.
i picked joe balog has he has a few wins under his belt here on erie and LSC even. but i didn't see art ferguson down, so i wish he does well and will fish on saturday...
Joe Balog - 55.5 lbs
I don't have access to a competitors list for the event so I put the ones on that I was close to 100% sure about. May hurt someone's feelings, but there can be write in's as some of you have done. This is just for fun and something to do. I had not heard if Modrak or Art are fishing. Sorry for leaving you off the list markgoetsch. But if you do win... I will put a big picture of you on the web site and maybe some video if I can find you Saturday!!
I think Harrison may stand the best chance. Weights have been lower than usual in a couple recent tournaments. I'm going to say 53 lbs. to win. I think drop-shotting some Erie Darters may be the ticket.
Ryan w/ 66.3
Arts fishing it. put him on cuz thats who i am voting for.
He is due for another big win
McCarter himself :-\'

don't worry about it I didn't even vote for myself but I am planning on fishing saturday! ok hoping...
Going to vote for ferguson.60 lbs. of river fish.
I should have checked with Brian before I voted, because I'm betting the winner will get several of his fish on Nemesis gobies. Just a guess.

Well, I hope you make it to Saturday too! See you then!!
Ok. Added Art since he fishes full time. Hadn't seen anything about him being there. Wish I had a list of participants but that won't be available until Wednesday evening or Thursday.

they have been hot out there this year again for those who are throwing them. we caught them pb&j out of them the last couple times i was out there throwing the BLING color pattern.
McCarter himself :-\'
I will cast my vote for JVD. With a last name like that, how can he not end up at the top? Plus, with the victory on Erie last year, he clearly knows how to seal the deal.
Winner: Jonathon Vandam--62.5lbs
-Ryan
Put me down for Gerry Gostinek to win with 62lb. Had weighed a 25+ bag last month and a 21lb bag two weeks ago.
Dobson with 64.5lbs
So many good fisherman on that list. I choose Chip with 66lb 8oz.
I am going with Ryan Said. I work with his Dad and I think he has a bit of an edge since Lake Champlain. He is on a roll and I hope his roll keeps rolling. Good Luck Ryan. I know your Dad is real proud of you as all of us are who work with him.
BD ;D
I did not know Gostenik was fishing the BASS Open. Guess the odds are good that I'll be getting pictures and video of a lot of locals!
Are Trombly, Coates, King, and Rhode locals?
I know Trombly and Coates. Are they fishing? They are locals? Meaning regular Great Lakes anglers. Not sure is I know King or Rhode? More info? Do you know if they are all fishing?
although i'll be rooting for JVD out of the locals, my eye is on Kiriyama, the best finesse fisherman around, IMO.

Jarred Rhode is from Ohio....He will be tough if he can run on Lake Erie...Rumor has it he ran over 80 miles in the LSC BFL...(I am pretty sure he was in the top 10)
I fished as a Co with him a couple of years ago...Awesome deep water angler....He has been one of the boaters that has impressed me most with vertical Dropshotting and use of electronics...
If Jarred can't run on Lake Erie all 3 days though I think he will struggle...If he can he will be right in there...
I know Jared Rhode, he's a teacher and his family runs a charter business out of Port Clinton. He is a stick on Erie and he can catch them on St.Clair as well.
Well, looks like more people expect Chip to win. I voted for Dave Reault. Seems like he is due. Or I jinxed him ;D
I'm thinking the 3 day weights will not be super high, but very solid. I'm guessing between 57 and 58 pounds.
moto, if you get to a computer, PM me the name of your secret local guy to watch so I can keep a look out if your prediction comes true. See you Friday.
Let us not forget. Doug Arter whacked 2 6 lbers in the wonderland tourney can't count him out...
i wish i could vote for everyone, but i will be rooting for everyone. it would be very cool to see Ryan Said win it. That would do a lot for his future as a pro. I would also like to see Gooch ( sorry mark, thats your new nickname ) win it using his secret wisconsin tactics. and, dave reault is my "jerkbait hero" ( sang to the tune of jukebox hero by some band that i dont know ) cuz "he's got smallmouth in his eyes" ( still singing ). I really like Doug Arter, too. I didnt know he was fishing as a boater but that just gives me one more person to root for. i hope its a 10 way tie, hows that!
McCarter himself :-\'
Which 10?? ...jk

Yes, they are all fishing. They are all very good Erie guys (they are all from Ohio) and have all done very well in past Detroit River events. I could easily see one or more of them doing very well in this event. It should be exciting!
I would have put Trombly and Coates on the list if I had known they were fishing! Good luck everyone. Nice to see someone voted for Eric!! :)

You should have put King on there too!
And Hasty, I guess...
Looks like a Michigan-Ohio battle. I, for one, am loving this! Good showing so far boys!
Yeah. The locals did some butt kicking today!
King with 25lbs 14 oz...? Seriously? That's sick.
Yes! It was a bag of all alike TOADS!!! Read the story, see a picture of two of them including the 5-15! Also a short raw video of Chris King weighing in the biggest sack of the tournament (so far) http://www.greatlakesbass.com/tournaments/index.php/2010/08/20/ohios-king-takes-5-pound-lead
Was that 4 ohio guy's in the top 5? HMM....?
Looks like Ryan Said is very close at being classic bound.

Yeah... well why Michigan and Ohio were duking it out, a Hoosier snuck off with the crown!!! I still don't know what a Hoosier is...?
A Hoosier is a tire Isn't it? Glad to see Ryan did well and is now leading the points race in the Northern division.
What ever happened to the day 2 leader? He had such a commanding lead, I thought for sure that he had it wrapped up.
Ryan he ended up with a zero on day three. If I remember correctly he ended up 20th
I talked to Chris King. He said he had to make the run to his day 1 and 2 spot after what he got out of it, especially on day two with that huge almost 26 pound sack! For whatever reason, it would not produce the third day. He was disappointed but handling it pretty well since he had to take the chance. It just didn't work. He did his best.
