In 10 words or less - What is your favorite polarized bass fishing glasses - color, lens, price,
Ive cracked or destroyed 2 pr in 2 weekends (moss lens & browned lens) and all I have left are my solar bat yellow tinge pair. What would the best all around pair for the money if could only get one pair ?
Ready ? GO !
Costa Del Mar w/Silver Mirror 580 lenses.
Oakley Straight Jacket, Shallow Blue, 190.
I really like the vermillion tint in Costa Del Mar. Lets through more light than dark gray - about 25% compared to less than 10% for dark gray. Really brightens greens for good contrast.
I have very pale blue eyes (redhead curse) so I would suffer less strain by wearing dark gray, but the vermillion can work in low light almost like yellow while still blocking enough light that I can make it through the day. I could only wear yellow during a very limited time frame and conditions without getting headaches so I haven't bothered yet. Maybe if I was rolling in dough...
I haven't tried any of the mirrors.
Berkley $15 dollar cheapies. I lost two $50 pairs of glasses already this year. Going back to the Berkleys. ;D

I'm in this camp will never spend anything more than 20 bucks for glasses. I have decided that I am not responsible enough to own expensive glasses. Plus I have CRS which doesn't help.
Do you have an advanced case of CRS?
whats CRS? Is it like IBS?

Kaenon copper core. Put them in your glove box and only use them fishing. Go to the gas station and buy $6 glasses to wear the rest of the time then you won't lose your good ones
Sooooo for the Costa Del Mar 580 lenses - differences I would find between the silver mirror, vermillion, amber or green tint mirror lenses ? Can one color be an all purpose better than others ? VERY IMPORTANT post for ol mojo as this may be his birthday present from mama sher bere
CDM Fathom 580 green mirror,$239.00 at BPS.
I have a pair of CDM harpoon frame w/580 grey lense. The lady at BPS seemed to know alot about Costas and told me to try the grey lense because I do alot of driving. I also wanted an all around pair and I'm very happy with them so far. Go to BPS and try a pair and if you are not happy with them take them back and try a different pair. That's what I did and she did not have a problem exchanging them as long as their not beat up.
Look around and you can find deals on the Costas. You don't need to spend retail for them. I bought mine for $120 through Campmor. They might not be the latest, greatest style, but they have the lense I wanted. As of right now, they have one pair of glasses with the 580 lenses (in silver mirror or grey) for $120 (http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___88719).
Oakley Monster Dogs w/ Shallow Blue lenses. About a $160. Totally awesome!
Costa DelMar Fathom frame with the 400 CR39 blue mirror lense... and who pays retail?? ;)
I have prescription sunglasses, but when I don't have these the cocoons work very well.
I like the amber/red tint. Allows me to use them in more situations than the ole smoke lens.
But in bright sun, the smoke does just fine.
Guideline glasses amber lens with the 1.5 magnifier on the bottom. Works great for us older visullay challenged anglers. been using them all summer and they have held up well. Don't need my readers when fishing.
I used to go through 2 pairs of Solarbat a summer. Got to admit Solarbat has an awsome replacement policy.

Oakley's fishing specific frame is the Straight Jacket. They offer 3 different lenses for them. They offer a shallow blue lense for shallower waters and flats, a deep blue lense for deeper waters, and a vr28 lense for river fishing. I have the shallow blue lenses, and they are awesome. They eliminate all of the blue light, and really make everything brighter. It is amazing what you can see with them. I bought mine off of ebay for 159,with free shipping. Incase you are interested in finding them, the part number is 24-018.
Oakley Flak Jacket - Polarized XLJ in Bronze Iridium - excellent for low-mid light conditions.
Cool thing - lenses are interchangeable, black iridium polarized for bright light full sun conditions. Note - they also have a hydrophobic coating on them so water drops roll off rather than spot on the lenses.
