Title: Harbors and fishing areas around the city of Chicago?
Post by: bassin butch on June 07, 2010, 03:58:04 PM
Any places worth a try for Smallies near the city?  Need to have launch and biting smallies.  Being from up near the IL/WI line its all uncommon water for me.

Any help would be great!

Thanks in advance

Butch

I watched from shore as some of the pros fish the Chicago Bassmaster's Classic years back. I remember we were in the Navy Pier area. They were fishing in marinas and around some of the outer walls catching largemouth and smallmouth.

I don't remember where they launched. I also remember some of the marinas had no fishing rules (stupid but the way things go). We could see some bass on beds in the areas they were not allowed to fish. Check out the information on that event and you should find some stuff out.

We watched the weigh in one day at Chicago stadium and went to the big fishing show there.

Butch I put in at Pastric Marina In East Chicago.. It's on Cline Ave.. You can launch and head west to the city.. Navy Pier can be very good,95th street, around the shed aqaruim..  Just keep you eye on the wind.. 95th street launch is rough with the banger punks.. Im me if you need anymore info.. Slimm
