Title: Anyone fished the Detroit River Lately?
Post by: TritonTR20 on October 12, 2009, 04:20:34 PM
Am coming to St Clair the end of this week and had planned to fish the south shoreline of Canada. Weather is not looking good for that. Was thinking I might either fish the river or run to the north shore of Erie. Has the algae bloom on Erie disappeared?

Looks like a mudpit to me

Not trying to undermine an opinion but take those images "with a grain of salt" at times, I was out at the mouth of the river or on Erie on a few occasions in the past month and looked at the images on the web a day or two later and I'm pretty darn sure the water was not anywhere near as "dirty" as the satelite image looked.  Back when that algae bloom was in full force the satelite images did not do justice to the real "catastrophe".

Another "opinion" and take from it whatever you want: don't judge this coming weekend's weather/conditions on what the forecast is now, be patient and/or flexible (if possible).  Not one in the past month has been close to accurate from 6 days out.

I hope to be playing on the river and out on the MI near shore tomorrow and will let ya know what, if anything, I may discover.
