I'm looking for maybe a 997si or a 798si for the console on my Skeeter over the winter. What are your thoughts ? Likes, Dislikes ?
My Lowrance 330c took a dump and Im thinking about a Humminbird side imaging unit.

It is an amazing unit! I have the 997si and it helps in so many ways. Between finding rock piles and looking for piers and such that are dug out I don't know what I'd do without one anymore.
i have the 797si. Really like it.
I wish i had the bigger screen, but also don't feel its worth 1200$ extra bucks.
I bought the 798c2i a few monthes ago. Been kicking myself ever since for not getting the 997 instead. Dont get me wrong, the 798 performs perfect, but the small screen makes it hard to determine exactly what you are looking at on the SI. Be smarter than me and get the 997.
Shop around, too. I ended up getting my 798 with NVB and transducer for $839 brand new 2009 model shipped to my door. I have seen a few slightly better deals since but i am happy with the price i paid.

I too have the 797si with NVB unit at my dash. Love it! Putting my Lowrance 522 on Craigs List very soon. Just purchased a 'Bird 787 (no side imaging) for the bow.

The NVB option is built in maps on the unit. You can get the NVB instead of buying a mapping card. I was told by a Humminbird rep that the NVB can slow down the processing on the smaller units, including the 997.
BTW I have a 997 and I love it. I think it is worth ever dime.
