I'm 35 minutes away.  St. Clair and Erie are always my choices first before going anywhere else............even Kent.   ::)    Those of us in the Metro Detroit area are so lucky to have world class smallmouth fishing so close to home.

You have that right, UAW.  I live about 3 hours away from Erie Metro.  In my younger days I'd make just a day trip of it.  Once I left Indiana here at 1:30 am and got home about 10 pm.  I CAN NOT do that any more.  lololol

Yeah FF Jeff........ :D   I can leave my door step at 0500 hours and be at Erie Metro and launched by 0600.  That 60 minute timing includes getting in my truck at home, stopping for gas on the way, getting to the launch and having the boat tied to the dock.  Not bad.  I tried that one time when I was by myself.  I would say give or take 10 minutes too.......you know barring any traffic and construction that would slow me down.  Last Saturday I went out to St. Clair to do a little Walleye fishing and went from door step to launch through all that construction on 696 and did it in about 50 minutes.

I did limit out in the channel on Walleye.  Jigging was the ticket.  Saw a lot of guys trolling.  They were picking a up a few fish here and there.  We caught ours in about 20-30 feet jigging homemade UAWBigDog Made In The USA spoons tipped with minnows and crawlers.  It was a yummy fishfry that night.  Boy.......now I'm getting hungary again!!!!   :P

The amazing thing was the return trip home.  I made it in about the same time.  That was around 1500 too.  I got home and had the boat in the drive by 1555......still less than an hour.

Yeah you bet us Metro Detroiters have are lucky to have all those fishing opportunities so close.

Great Article and thanks for sharing it.  This is my first year with a boat I feel comfortable taking out there, and I can't wait to learn this fishery.

Cool article, good to see some local guys get some press.  I wonder why they are talking about Windsor?  Has FLW ever ran a tournament in Canada?

Hey Guys,

Only 20 Mins from LSC which makes it a easy fishery to be on 4 to 5 days a week wish for as much as I fished it I was on them more often these Smallies are one tough fish to find, But makes it so much fun when you find them.
