Title: battery upgrade
Post by: pigmania on May 10, 2020, 02:44:04 PM
I have a tracker walk through with a mercury 90 hp it is 3 years old. It has 1 group 24 starting battery on it and that has been doing fine. It is time for a new battery, I am going to get a group 31 battery this time and was wondering if I should buy a duel purpose starting/deep cycle or just another starting? I have 2 hummingbird helix 10 units and my live wells all run off my starting battery. I don't tournament fish so hardly ever use live wells just take pictures and release. Any input would be great. thanks

Go to WalMart and get a Maxx 29... It will work great for you. They are made by East Penn/DEKA and the best bang for the buck.... A deep cycle batt will crank, But a cranker wont deep cycle. As long as the deep cycle has at least the min cranking amps that your motor requires.

If you want to spend more, Get the NAPA 7234... Great battery too,

Reserve on line and save money. Google this battery if you like.
