i have one on the green matrix. cool look and pattern.. not a super blank for bass IMHO though.

nice beers they look good, so what's not so super about it? too soft too stiff? what model did you use?

too soft, not very sensitive - it was a M spinning 6'6". i'd have to look at it to get the specific model. The batson RX7s have a much better taper for most any type of bass fishing and are in the same price range (granted they don't look as cool). I think ATCs core contingent is inshore-saltwater fishing and that comes out in the tapers of the rods that a bass fisherman would use.

I've built on a couple of American Tackle Classic series blanks and I'm pretty impressed.  http://www.americantackle.us/blanksclassic.html
If you look under the "new blanks" section you will see the similarity of the model numbers and Loomis' model numbers.  I built an MB 843 and MB 844 and the actions are real close to Loomis.  The blanks are very light weight (similar weights to IMX).  If you look at Mudhole's MHX blanks, they are the same as the Classic series blanks.

I've not used the ATC's but my last 5 builds were all on Muholes MHX blanks. Very nice bass tapers but for me, in my opinion, the actions are a little lighter than I expect. I've been ordering one step stiffer than the description to get what I want.
