Title: Deal(s) of the Day
Post by: Cheetam on October 10, 2008, 04:53:16 PM
I know we all go online at some point during the day and check out all the tackle at all of the familiar online shops.  Why not start a Deal of the Day thread.  Maybe we can hook each other up.

My deal of the day:

Solar Bat Sunglasses on Clearance at Cabelas:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/standard-pod.jsp?id=0061684&navCount=1&parentId=cat602253&masterpathid=&navAction=push&cmCat=MainCatcat21404-cat602257-cat602253&parentType=index&indexId=cat602253&rid=

The first style sunglasses (Solar Bat PRCI Polarized Sunglasses) have the new Gradient Lenses (mossback to High res Yellow Fade) for $79.  Regular price on glasses with those lenses are ~$145.

Has anyone been to the Canton and/or Novi Meijer?  I might have to drop in, although they typically don't have a very good fishing section.

I did a little research and found a couple different websites that claim that the Cabelas fluorocarbon line is made by Seaguar.  Dont know if its true.  I have heard that the BPS fluorocarbon is also made by Seaguar.  Wonder if there is any truth to either.  I will say i do like BPS fluorocarbon eaqually to the Seaguar Carbon Pro.  Cant tell any difference and its a buck cheaper on most days and even less expensive during sale events.

I talked with Craig at Portage Lake Hardware today.  He is a St. Croix dealer, as well as other fishing tackle.

It seems that St. Croix has what I call price fixing.  Everybody has to sell at the same price.  So this way, the little guy can compete with Bass Pro.

Craig told me that he gets his fishing gear from the same supplier that BPS does.  He claims he can sell most everything they can, and at the same price.  Plus, you wouldn't have to pay shipping.

I bought an x rap from him for 7.27.  BPS has them for 6.99.  Close, but not exactly the same.  But, Portage Lake Hardware is on McGregor right by the boat lauch.  Almost.
And that's only 4 miles away.

The Meijer in Canton was pretty much picked through.  All the X Raps, Shad Raps and Minnow Raps that were on sale were gone.  They didn't have a single DT.  Not even spaces for them.  Weird.  They did have Trilene 100% Flouro (200 yd) for 13.99.  They only have 12 pound left and one or two 8 lb boxes (they were 12.99).

Stopped in there today and they had a small selection of Lucky Craft..(Live pointers, Pointer(97)sammys and a few others, Spro Frogs, Poor boy baits, Large selection of spinner baits, a bunch of walleye lures, and a few other top shelf baits labeled with the green sticker..Buy 6 lures get them all at 1/2 off..If you need to get some plastics they have a wall full of Zoom, Yum, and a bunch of others...
They have been adding more stuff every day...

I stopped at the Gander Mtn in Lansing and they pretty much had the same sale going on.  They did have a few LC pointers, G-splash (2 colors) and a few sammys.  Most of their Strike King baits were green tagged (Red Eyes were not).  They also had spot remover shaky heads in 1/4 and 1/8 oz in black.  They had the soft plastic as motocross269 said as well as some rage tail frogs.

Stopped at Gander Mtn in Novi today and they have the buy 6 green/yellow/red tag lures and get 50% off.  I ended up getting 6 Rap DTs, and a couple Mann's -1s for 50% off.  If I had the big bucks, I would have cleaned that place out!  Some of the colors were decent, but most of the baits were the less desireable colors.

I stopped by Gander Mountain in Kentwood and Lansing today. The Kentwood one didn't have much at all, but the Lansing store had a few things with the green tag 50% deal. I left one pack of tungsten weights and bought the rest, and also got a Tournament spinning reel for $39 + 15% off to try on a new drop shot rod I got over the winter. At the door they are giving out scratch-offs today and tomorrow to see how much you get off.
They completely did away with the Lucky Craft section in Lansing and I didn't see any in Kentwood. Luckily CR didn't get all of them from Flint and I got some from there the other day.  >:(

Just ordered two 20 piece Stanley socket sets for $12.99 + $5.00 shipping. That's two sets at http://www.woot.com/ Can't beat that deal. Cheap enough for those Christmas exchange gifts or cheap enough to toss in each vehicle just in case... The deal is only good for today. I check woot everyday early. If they selloout you're out of luck. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.

For those of you with any old Falcon rods, they have a "Trade Up" program available on their website. Its pretty simple and sweet: you get half the retail value on your old rod towards the purchase of a new rod of equal or greater value. Its a great opportunity to get a Cara for the price of a Lowrider!

You know the saying its probably too good to be true? well with these weights that is the case. Do not buy these so called Yum tungsten weights they are total garbage from what I have been told. I seen the same site posted on BBC and some guys ordered $50 worth, received them and were very disappointed. Read the first paragraph where it says these lead free weights are pourus in nature. These are nothing like tungsten and have tiny holes throughout the weight intended to hold Yum attractant. After reading the BBC thread those guys claimed they were softer than lead.

Went to Gander Mountain and they have a "Green Tag" sale. I bought two packages of Poor Boy Gobys and got four bags free. My buddy won a big tournament on Erie using the Poor Boy Goby.

Also restaurant.com has a 70% off coupon promotion right now. You can get a $25 coupon good at participating restaurants for $3. I have the particlulars on my teardropbass.com website. You end up having to spend $13 to get $35 worth of food. The site has places all over the United States. We bought coupons for Denver, Milwaukee, Saugatuck, Ludington, Grand Rapids to name a few. It's a heck of a deal. Coupons are good for a year.

Well, the Dicks near my house finally caught on to this little deal.  I bought most of the Lucky Crafts they had over the past few weeks using these coupons.  When i went in the other day, they said that these coupons were fake and someone had been making them on photoshop.  I said, well then why do they work in your computers when you scan them?  she looked at me funny and said she would give me the $10 off this time but they are no longer accepting these coupons.  Oh well, was fun while it lasted.
