Title: kent lake
Post by: bassassasin88 on August 20, 2008, 05:00:57 AM
Hey, I am thinking of giving kent a try on saturday. I have been fishing st.clair for the past couple months and getting spanked so I am thinking of going inland. my plan is to hit the river channel and fish around the islands. Then maybe if the sun comes out I will try a frog way down towards the river. This sound like a decent plan, or should I be trying something different? I am thinking dropshots and jigs. Any info would be appreciated. I have not done well ther in the past in the summer. I may go back to st.clair I here the channels may be turning on but I have no experience doing that plus I am getting a little tired of the long runs and big waves in my 16 footer. Also are the tuesday night tourneys going on there like last fall? Thanks.

If the channels are indeed turning on, why not trailer your boat around the lake, and put in at the Algonac DNR launch?

It puts you right on the North Channel, and there shouldn't be any long runs.

To fish it, you only need drop shots, and tubes.  Depending on which the Bass want that day.

Fish deep.  Like 30 or 40 fow.  Fish heavy weights, at least 3/8 oz tubes, and 5/8 drop shots.  Try and keep your line vertical to 45 degrees.  Depending on wind and current.  Experiment with different colors until you find what they are looking for.

You can also try a 3 way rig with something like a twin tail grub at the end.
