Title: My Magic Lure
Post by: frogman on June 18, 2008, 05:04:09 PM
My Ebay $34.95 package arrived containing ONE, super duper, japanese made, hand painted, oh my god it looks so real, bluegill swimbait.  Visions of giant largemouths fighting over the available chemically sharpened hooks on every cast were dancing in my head.  I rushed to my pond to make the virgin cast.  I was accompanied by my hunting dog, who loves to point bluegills for hours on end.  The first cast was made, slow retrieve - man, what a wobble - 10 feet from shore my dog attempted to chomp the lure, luckily he missed! Second cast, on it's way - what the hell?? He missed the lure but nicked the line!!   Can you rent scuba gear on Ebay ??

I know how you feel, I caught a nice smallie on the Giron then saw a bunch of gar pike swimming around so I retired that rig for the day. I am afraid to throw those expensive baits in lakes where there are big populations of pike, but eventually you have to take the chance I guess.
