Title: 1/8 oz A-Rig swimbait hooks w/4/0 heavy wire jig hooks...
Post by: 21XDC on March 12, 2018, 08:30:55 PM
A friend has been using 1/4oz and wanted something lighter, Realistic looking head with eyes, and large hook, good barb to hold his plastics. I modified a mold for him on Sunday and poured him a bunch. It's hard to find a light jig with a large heavy wire hook.

Smart move. I often want to use my little 'finesse' umbrella rig I got from 2K Jigs but it is hard to find decent sized hooks that don't add up to a really heavy rig. Makes it harder to throw it shallower around weeds in particular.

I would have used lighter hooks personally. But this guy "MG" always has me make his stuff with 6lb smallmouth in mind. He likes to boat flip 5lbers in the boat with 20lb+ test.

I was contacted by a bass angler from France once. He wanted me to help him plant smallmouth bass in France... Not sure how I would actually do that?!? But it's the thought that counts.
