Title: Clean boat act/ $800 cost per/boat to all
Post by: dmills4124 on May 12, 2008, 01:56:04 PM
Ok I live in ohio and surf here. I've made some good friends here. I found a site here in Ohio like this one and like it.
Here are some attachments you must look at. It seems there is a 30 year old law that is going into affect sept of 08 that is going to cost $800 to each boat owner in the USA if we don't take action. It is the clean boat act that we WANT to pass. That is the law that congress must make that will stop the epa from having to comply with making permit fees and tags to be issued to each boat that has water run through its engine or bilge water or livewell water or wter that runs off the decks.
Just watch the video and the BoatUS article and make up your own minds about what you should do.
I'm am sorry I could not be more plain and understandable about this subject but if this act does not come up for a vote and pass before sept we will all be paying $800 or more to go fishing.
thanks

This is the article sent out by BoatUS.
If this does not pass I will have to sell my boat or park it and bank fish because I will not be able to afford to pay for the permits to take my boat out.
thanks again guys.

I thought I saw your names on the OGF website. It is a good website but it doesn't cover bass fishing like this one does. That one is more walleye and catfish than anything.

Yep, that was me and thats right about walleyeon OGF. Most of what has been posted lately is crappie info. If you want to know about bass fishing you need to post a thread asking about a lake and exactly what you want to know about it.

What do you think about this clean boat act?????

Yeah, why not. Most people are already priced out of using their boat much anyway with gas prices what they are. So, lets tack on another $800 on top of that to make sure nobody can afford it anymore. Seriously though, I think the EPA is doing the right thing petitioning the appellate courts to drop the recreational boaters from the bill, since we don't pose any threat to introducing invasive species to other waterways through our boats. I'm surprised, in all honesty, that I have not seen gobies in our local reservoirs, the way some people like to take "baitfish" to use elsewhere. We do have white perch and the only way those got in there was someone put them in. I'm sure DNR did not stock them.
