MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (Sept. 17) - A 59-year-old man's arm was bitten off by an alligator as he snorkeled in a South Carolina lake, but doctors were unable to reattach it.

I fished in that area back in 2001. Lots of gators. One ate my lucky spinnerbait. I saw way more gators at Marion and Moultrie (Santee-Cooper) than I did at Okeechobee. Not as many really big ones, but there were a couple who came out to watch me fish every morning about 10 PM. They kept circling the boat - at a distance... but I always felt like they were trying to block the one exit from the bay...
