Bass Tournament East
Saturday May 7
8 AM until 2 PM - please arrive no later than 7:15 AM
Lake St Clair - Michigan waters only
Harley Ensign MDNR Ramp - end of South River Rd
Entry Fee $5 per angler 13 and older (required)
Big Bass $2 per angler 13 and older (required)
anglers under 13 fish for free
Open to all registered GreatLakesBass.com members.1
This is a paper tournament - catch, measure & release.*
IMPORTANT: Each boat will need a Largemouth Bass Weighmaster Golden Rule designed for catch and release with weight conversion based on length.2
Format is draw tournament with boater and nonboater fishing as a team. 5 biggest bass between the two or three team members will be counted to determine finish.
*Biggest non-bass fish brought in to weigh wins the coveted BIG UGLY prize! Fish must be in season and legally caught to count.
1Please note:
Family members may be able to fish together. Please contact me directly by PM (http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=1), phone 810-433-BASS (2277) or email (http://glbass.com/contact) to arrange this. I would prefer family members 18 and older be a registered member of GreatLakesBass.com. I will not request that for family members under 18 and prefer not to have family members under 13 register due to federal privacy regulations. If you have a family member that wants to fish but not be a member, please contact me privately prior to the event. Youth 17 years or younger must be participating with a parent or legal guardian. Exceptions to this will need to be discussed with me in advance. Use the contact information above please. Thank you.
2 If you don't have the correct paper tournament Weighmaster Golden Rule board (available from Gator) you can use a regular board. Measure the bass based on the farthest line the tail touches or goes over. Bring the board in to me and I can come up with a closest conversion in weights for you to finish tallying your weights - you probably won't get as much weight credit fyi. Please try to get the Weighmaster board from someone or some place. I don't have anymore extras and can't buy them at a discount anymore.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Nonboaters please bring life jackets to make sure we have enough. Life jackets must be worn zipped and/or buckled whenever the gas motor is running. Boater must use working kill switch when gas motor is running.
No live bait. Artificials only.
I try to make sure there are as few boats as possible with no one that knows the water. I can have a mini-seminar before we launch on where to fish for people who ask about it.
This event is all about everyone catching some fish, having fun and getting to know each other, and also to honor the memory one of our greatest members - David 'MadWags' Wagensomer!!! Thank you for being members of GreatLakesBass.com.
If you have anything new or like new you'd like to donate for prize giveaways, please contact (http://glbass.com/contact) me.
Post that you are attending, and if attending as a boater or nonboater in this thread please. It is easier for me to keep track if your status is in this thread rather than only through some other contact means like PM, phone, email, etc. Thanks!
I'm in as non-boater.
Boater and as usual, I plan to bring sister-in-law Laura and nephew Andrew
I'm in non boater
Sign me up as a boater. Only 7 months to go. :(
Put me in as boater
Thanks everyone for getting this going early. Too bad it is 6 months away. But it will be here before we know it!
I'm in. Non-boater as of now..... could change by spring :-)
DK on the ball!! I'm in. Boater.
Once in awhile the stars align with the sun and the moon...
I want to say I'm in, but I really have to see what happens in the spring. Missed it this year and don't want to miss 2 in a row!
It's a ways out there
But if in town I'll be there as a boater
You can always update your status later but hopefully you get to fish this year.
put me on the boater list please 8)

I am going as a boater. I am being brave and taking wife.
You're being brave to say publicly that you're being brave to take your wife ;D
I'm in as a boater and fishing with Tdroulliard. I'm trying to talk my buddy Shay to come up from TN to get in on the early season smallies on Clair and walleye in the Detroit River. Nothing like it in the entire world!
Good luck with that, though if he has any sense it will be his good luck if he comes up to fish our great waters!
Ok I wanan come , but I can't decide if I bring the boat or not. I wanna spend a day or 2 out there since I am only willing to drive south of Clare for this event. I can take 1 person with me in the mini boat.
What days are ya coming for?
I'd like to come down late wed night to hit the launch thursday morning and stay till sunday . If i drive down bout 2 ish , i shoudl hit the launch at daybreak and leave sat night/sun morning early to avoid the mess of traffic on both days
Sounds like a good plan. Maybe I could meet you Friday if the schedule allows and do some fishing if you have room in your boat?
Count me in as a boater.
Matt, Get ahold of me when you figure out what you are doing. I have lots of vacation time left. we can hook up and fish for a few days. we can use my boat if you don't want to drag yours down. Dan I can get 3 in my boat. ;D ;D ;D
Actually. I'm kind of excited to run it on the lake again Bill. With the new setup and all. Now that I have GPS, I won't have to follow anyone to make sure I don't do something stupid. LOL
Plus a celeberty said he would try and make it for a day. How can I pass that up!
I see episode of ::: "GLB fishes with a crazy pollock from up north" in the making!! ;D
Let me know when you make you final plans. I will see if I can get the day off and bring.my boat over. Oh wait I have every day off. Let me know.
I too have every day off. The only thing that usually keeps me away is the weather.
East winds stink!
No East wind allowed at this event. :)
east winds......they blow :o
Just took time off for the tourney. I plan to make a weekend of it. I'll have my boat but have no problem jumping in someone else's boat.
Jeff, when are you coming over? Thursday, Friday?
Haven't decided yet Bill. I'm actually off from Tuesday thru Sunday but may have to work part-time on Thursday. I guess worst case scenario would be Thursday evening. What ya thinking??

I don't think you can get your pontoon boat into Muskamoot😉
I'm in as a boater as well. I will be bringing my fishing pal Matt B.again this year.
So far so good. Keep signing up. We have plenty of time but the earlier I know who and how many are coming the easier it is to put things together. Thanks!
I am ready to try to catch a smallie again on St Clair, so I am in. I will be a non boater unless I can get my new rig all set up prior to the event.
I'm still not 100% (need to hire a couple people before then!). But if I come I'm sure I'll be riding with Mike S.

Oh .... I think I can - I think I can go in places better than a bass boat brother, just get there a little later ...... Put it this way, I can have 2 or 3 non boaters comfortably for those scared to be on LSC, so when we make the list to balance out boaters and non-boaters, if we have a lot more non-boaters, I can help. If we need non-boaters, I can switch over.
A pontoon would be a riot for that. I should put my Talons and a trolling motor on mine. Lol!
I will be fishing as a boater with TJROCK , thank you.
Looks like I'm in! Riding with Mike Szot in his "nearly" 80 mph Skeeter! 8)
If you guys will still have me, I'll go as a non boater. Not sure about Veronica, but I'll ask her.
Welcome back!!!! It's good to see you on here again Mike.
Please add Girlscanfish2 as a non boater. If she can fish in the same boat as me that would be great.
Is it time to start a list of food people are bringing? I am good for some hot dogs and buns. Also some pop. Anybody have a propane grill?

Been wanting to go to the Moot or Fisher bay every year. I usually don't go because I want my boater to catch fish. I end up at the mile roads. Tom if you want to go with me I guarantee we will have fun.
I plan on going there the week before. I will let ya know if you want to ride along then also.

Hi, my name is Jason. I would like to get into this tournament. I don't have a boat, I fish LSC all the time from my kayak. If anyone is looking for a partner/team mate I'm in. I'm willing to pay the entry fee and bring lunch. Sorry if this is in the wrong thread/or breaks any rules of the forum. I'm new to the site.
Jason - we will put you down as a co-angler. You'll get paired with a boater.
Pay your own entry fee and see if your boater would like some gas money the day of the event.
There are opportunities to pitch in with the coffee/donuts and the BBQ afterwards.
You'll have fun and it's a low key event.
Terry
I am in for sure as a Non Boater. Should be able to provide a Boater as well if needed. Please let me know!
Thanks Terry.
I'm in. Non boater.
Having an overflow of non-boaters finally so if anyone can bring a boat, that'd be best.
I'm not AT ALL motivated by wanting to see Mojo's pontoon boat. Nope. Not. At. ALL.
Don't forget to add Mr. Dan Kimmel to the list. He needs to fish also.
I have a boater confirmed to pair up with. He still needs to register on the forum as he is a new member but we are in for sure.
Only 4 boats that aren't already paired up? Wow this has changed a lot over the years.

Unless the store has some left over stock Bass Pro no longer carries them anyways. Had to get ours off of Ebay lol. Here is their website you can order direct from, this may be your only other option unless someone has an extra to sell:
http://gatorgrip.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6&products_id=46
If you have any co-angler openings count me in. I have a golden ruler to bring
My son, Bryce, wants in now. I signed him up last year. So, he will be with Waterfoul and I.
Hi,
I'm Steve and would like to participate as a boater with my partner Spinnebation who is already on the list.
Cheers!
Steve
Bringing in a ringer are ya Mike?
We will see.
I will see where we are at (thanks for all the help) on Sunday and do draw. I have couple tables I can bring but haven't checked to food thread yet to see where we are at. I didn't have home Internet for almost 2 weeks so I'm playing catchup on all the messages and posts. Though tomorrow looks like a nice day so I will be practicing arm exercises with a fishing rod! ;D
I'm out. My son graduates from MSU on May 7. Just realized the conflict. Have fun all. Next year I will be a boater.
Okay, here is my tally as accurate as I know of boaters and non-boaters. We have 5 unmatched boaters and 10 unmatched non-boaters so we could use some more boaters or a number of volunteers to double up. If I received messages that are not on this thread I have forgotten them so you'll need to post a correction or contact me again. I prefer if all decisions to fish or not fish as a boater or non-boater are in this thread so I can keep better track. I do not see a post by LAPORTE or rkeller for example stating they are coming. I assume that was separate communication I'm not aware of?
x before a name means I have them coming as a boater or non-boater based on the posts in this thread. mx means I have them coming and they are already matched up with boater/non-boater. I will do a draw within the week after I see if this posing shakes anything out. I probably will not have my truck fixed in time for this event so I can't get my boat yet or I would help out.
If you're a boater willing to take 2 non-boater please PM me or post in here. You can also PM me if you feel you cannot take 2 non-boaters. That's your call, not mine. Thanks!

Kind of my point Bob.
especially when boaters are teaming up with boaters (unless there is boat repairs being done)
I have no problem with anyone pairing up before hand along as it stays a fun event.
BTW. I am paying Team Houston's entry for winning the Guess the Classis winning weight.
I must be missing Bob O's point... Bob picked a partner as well, in fact, He's keeping more non boaters at risk because Mojo's pontoon could take all of us out. :P
I have never fished this before and wasn't going too.... But since Mark twisted my arm I said yes.
It's not that I mind taking a stranger fishing, or bringing my boat, It's just I'd like to fish with Mark on St Clair once and seemed like the perfect opportunity.
Mark is almost a stranger to me as well and I wanted to get to know him better.
:)
I just figure since Mike Szot and I coming over from the Sunset Side of the state, all my stuff will already be in his boat. It's just easier to leave it in there and fish with him and his son than to swap it all over at the ramp (twice). Besides, we are probably making one of the longer trips for this event and any unforeseen accident on the highway in front of us could delay our arrival, and I'd hate to arrive late and make a couple of guys wait for us. Just easier I guess.
BUT, if someone absolutely HAS to fish with me, I'd be open to it. For the right price of course. I mean come on, all this fishing skill in your boat isn't going to be cheap! That's right folks, I'm a RINGER on LSC. LOL!!! ;D ;D 8)

Okay. Let me refigure the list to see where we are at now.
I don't mind however people want to fish this as long as they come and have a good time. I want someone to be in charge of reminding me this year we'll have everyone introduce themselves at the cookout as another way of getting to know each other. Someone volunteer to remind because I will probably forget to do it. I have several things to remember this year. Thanks.
Now I have to go ask for some donations of tackle so I have some prizes to give away. If we don't have a lot of prizes that is entirely my fault for forgetting to ask early enough.

Make sure you bring life jackets if you have them and bring any Golden Rule Weighmaster boards you have so we have enough to go around. I have one I will bring for my boater if I go out with someone if they don't already have one. If you don't have a weighmaster board we will come up with an alternate solution with the board you do have.

If need be, skip myself and Veronica. I know I've not been active for a while now, and I'd give up our seats to allow a more active, or new member to fish. It looks to me like it's going to be very hard to get everyone a seat.

Well, Since Mark asked me to fish, and he scared to ride in an 80+ mph tater chip hull, We will probably be fishing from his Triton... (http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/stirthepot.gif)
Ain't scared! Just wise beyond my years....
Here's the updated list I have with 2 less boaters unfortunately due to personal and/or work reasons so still need to find a few boaters or have some people double up. Please let me know if anything changes as soon as possible, and if you're willing to take 2 non-boaters (or not) PM me. Thanks!

Weren't you there last year Matt ???
Here's where I show us at now with the latest updates. I still would like to hear from any boaters willing to take 2 non-boaters since we are 8 over on non-boaters at the moment until or unless that changes. Thanks.

That was the year before last Jeff
. When I brought the boat. Even Ma out fished me with the big ugly. I'll have to take a day off when yer at that lake north of me and do a Scott Martin challenge deal with ya lol
I'm going to do the final draft 1st run initial pairings on Monday after I hear back from a few people. So be ready... :)
Forecast is 76 Degrees and clear as of today. Looking like a fun day. Can we try and start a little earlier this year.

We can start at 8am. Will that work for you? Some of us are getting up real early to get over that as it is like poor ole Mike S. (and me).

Wind is supposed to be West and moderate on Saturday which is perfect for the Mile Roads. Cross your fingers.
Okay. Creating the draw post now. Look in a matter of moments. Or minutes.
OK - Add Rick OT as a boater and partner with Yukon Jack as his non-boater.
Do you know what his screen name is? I have Rick Colon but don't know his screen name.
Is everything 100% a go tomorrow rain or shine? We would hate to make the 2 1/2 hr trip and cross the border to show up to a last min cancellation...
I'll be there one way or another. I wouldn't cancel unless I was there and there were severe thunderstorms or the like going on at the time of launch. That's not supposed to happen last I checked.
Bassndoug I'm in as a boater going to fish with my son Kyle. looking forward to some fun.
Late change - Rick the boater is not coming - Yukon is being added as a 3rd for Bob and I ..... God bless Bob ..... :o
I am going and Donna S will be my co-angler.
Mitch you are in the wrong year.
;D Funny... good thing you posted Team houston or I wouldn't have seen this probably...
