Post by: YpsiBass on September 04, 2015, 04:39:12 PM
Time for another "where are you fishing this holiday weekend"-type post. If anyone needs me, I'll probably be on belleville. WOOHOO Algae bloom!

I'll be on Portage lake Like I have for the past 10 years
A friend has a small friends and family tournament every year

I all most feel bad about fishing against guys in row boats. LOL
But it's good to see all of them every year

Nothing but pontoon floating until Tuesday for me.  Then it's fishing time.

I was planning on avoiding lakes (which is why I went Friday) until at least Tuesday. But someone might talk me into fishing Monday, and then maybe not. You never know about these things. Meetings this coming week so not much time for fishing.

I'm taking Bob O to StClair Sat. I'm going to put a bend into the new dropshot rod Bob made me to my specs...

Thanks Bob!

Well
My plans changed. The launch at Portage was full at 8:10 and they open at 8
So I fished Woodland on the way home.
And then today I had a late start and hit Pontiac thinking I could DS
Tuna boats were every were with allot of jet ski's so I gave up on the front of the lake after an hour and hit the back end. Could get the frog bite going, But Flukes in the pads was the ticket. Had 10 in 2 hours with the best 5 at 11-12 pounds
And there wasn't a soul around fishing in the 1-2' of water

I went out Friday morning to Erie but with 3 to 5 footers in the Trenton Channel I ended up putting the boat back on the trailer and heading to Belleville.  I did rather well there catching most of my fish on crank baits.  There still was algae in the water but no where near as bad as it was a month or so ago.  I ended boating about a dozen bass with my best 5 being around 12lbs.  I didn't fish the rest of this holiday weekend as I tend to stay away from lakes on holiday weekends.  I am off from work on vacation all this week and intend to head back out to Erie a couple of times as well as maybe some of the inland lakes closer to my home.  I hope every one had a great weekend brought to you by those of us that are working people in the union.

Lucky you, fudgie-hater... ;D

I ended up going to Round Lake on Monday because of the weather and meetings the rest of the week. I had no where near the day I had Friday (that was an exceptional, best day ever out there) but I caught dinks and a few small keepers steadily enough to keep it interesting. All except 1 follow up fish were on the same popper and mostly a clear Gunfish walking the dog.

My lake was a zoo all weekend.   Sitting here eating lunch looking at 465 acres of water and not a boat in sight.  Might have to go fishing..

The water was 78-79 degrees today and cloudy after the busy weekend.  Caught some nice fish on a drop shot.  I bought some new worms at BPS today and tried them out.  Going to have to cool off a little and clear up before I go back out.  Have not seen the water that warm this time of year  in the 30 years I have lived on the lake.

It should cool off fast right now as cold as the nights have been. Might get a little warmer in a few days I'm told?
