I know it's only November, first comes thanksgiving. Before you know it , Christmas is here. After that it will be show time. 8 short weeks my friends. I would just like to let Dan know. I am available for most of the week.
The show has been a disappointment to me the last few years. But it is in the middle of winter and there is not much else to do.
Yea,
Great social event
As far as fishing things to buy, Not so much
But there's a few venders that I do buy from every year
The show has been a big disappointment as far as merchandise is concerned over the last few years. I do happen to find a few things here and there and there are some vendors that I do consistently buy from, but over all I would give the show a 4 on a scale of 1 being worse and 10 being best. I enjoy helping DK out at the GLB booth. That's always fun talking fishing with all the people that come by and I always meet new people. The show in Grand Rapids is much better than Novi. There are more vendors and more of everything. It's never been a disappointment to me. It's just the drive out there although with as many times as I make the drive for soccer games yearly, lately it's just another trip to Grand Rapids and not so bad.
BD ;D
Not sure about making the Novi show this year... Grand Rapids for sure... it's only 10 minutes from my house.
I like helping Dan out as well. Great opportunity to meet members and sign up new ones!!
I agree - show has been a major disappointment last few years. Will be a game time decision based on how board I am.
You know there comes a time when veteran anglers, like us. Can tell the difference between lures and baits that catch fishermen and those that catch fish. It's not about filling my box. I got stuff that has not been washed in years. With the exception of maybe a dozen different types of baits , in different colors. I don't need anymore tackle. I like hanging with people that love to fish. For me, it's all about the entertainment.
We should arrange a day and time at BWW or The Tilted Kilt and skip the show.

I like how you think.........

Me too, Tilted Kilt have never been there but always wanted to check it out. Hey bobo Are you going to host a swap meet this year?
I will be there. I'm never disappointed. It's the middle of winter. I get to see tons of friends including some I only see once or twice a year (some from the 'olden days') and meet new people.
Have a little fun. Okay... lots of fun. Members come up to me every show and introduce themselves in person. Get to talk about fishing. Look at some of the products there. Maybe catch an entertaining seminar or two! I loved Gerald Swindle's seminar last year. He is really, really good at just being himself.
I hope to see most (or ALL?) of you there. Whether you help out or not. I will get going on this soon. I promise. And it's okay to remind me. Numerous times if that is what it takes. Thanks!
Dan,
I have to agree with you about Gerald Swindles seminar last year. It was great, so good I went to both of them. Anyways, once you decide when you need people to help run the booth, let me know and I will gladly help out for a few hours.
And as far as the tilted kilt goes, the food is good, the beer is cold, and the waitresses are incredible. My buddy and I went there after last years fishing show, and then again this summer. We were having a brutal tournament on Kent, called it an early day, and headed to the tilted kilt to "recoup" from our disastrous performance.
Mr. K, please mark me down for a YES, at the UFS at Novi. I'm going to get vary busy, between now and the show. I may not frequent this site much at that time. I will be available during the week and most of the weekend.
I haven't made the show in the last few years....But I would have to agree the Selection from the Vendors left a little to be desired.....Taking the time to see the seminars is what makes the time and money spent a value....In my opinion...
Hopefully I can get there this year....I did get to Outdoorrama last year and helped the club out at the Trout pond...
I will need help of course. No petition this year! Yeah. But we get to see all our friends and talk about fishing. There's always a couple surprises. I will start updating time and information over the Thanksgiving holiday if I can hide from Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales (hey! if you buy online - please click our links on the right green and at www.greatlakesbass.com/shop/ FIRST!! THANKS!!).
Dan - here is your reminder on setting a schedule of helpers for the booth. Do you want any help getting this going? I can rally the troops for you!
big D, since T Bone and I have had such a great time assisting you in the past we decided this year you don't even have to pay us.....(o'boy that should get the WTH talk going ).

I think after a day at the show, having Veronica, Caelyn and makensie run around, running a few booths, providing general support to all my favorite buddy's and causes, it's only right and fair to have the boys together at tilted kilt...... Kustom kicker, tilted kilt and all things shiny and made of silicone baby !
Thanks for the reminder. This is coming up FAST!!!! I have some behind the scenes homework to do let alone the schedule!!! Yikes! :D We'll get 'er done. Should be fun this year. Working on a new sign. I think. I hope. Sign-makers block so far...
If you are looking for any artwork help for a new sign, my daughter is a very excellent artist. She may be able to help you out. Graphic illustration is within her field of expertise. PM me if you're interested and I'll get you her contact information.
BD. ;D

Schedule was posted yesterday believe it or not... look above at the top of this board: http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?topic=27514.0
The first day of the show went with out a niche , it was a lite turn out. Maybe due to the snowy weather. Mark was classic Zona . Both of his seminars and the ultimate fishing tournament was vary well done. A rep. from 2K- jigs won the tournament.
Made it down there at around 3:30 yesterday and was able to catch Zona's 4pm seminar like I had wanted. Very good info on swim baits. Walked around the show for a bit, bought a few things, but overall there isn't much that can be done different year after year for these shows. I enjoy them, but it leaves me depressed knowing there is still 3-4 months until I can get out on the boat again lol.
I will ask someone if they would consider a quick end to winter for you :)
Lots of new presentations and new ideas this year from companies, like 2K jigs,Xterme Bass baits, Lunch Money lures-Case plastics,Mikes RX baits and Snack Daddy. If you haven't gotten to the show yet. You have one more day, Sunday , to check it all out . Don't forget to stop by the Great Lakes Bass.Com booth, and say hello to Dan Kimmel.
