Title: Newburgh Lake
Post by: Jefferson on July 31, 2014, 12:19:57 PM
Has anyone tried this lake or know anything about it? It's by 275 and 96. Livonia. Looks kinda small on the map.

Back in the 80's I caught some big bass, but in the 90s they drained the lake and it hasn't been the same!

It's better now that the lake is cleaner. Shore fishing is OK. There is a boat ramp, but no parking for a trailed. Big pike, some nice bass, cats and lots of pan fish . You may catch trout, they were stocked in after the cleaning. I believe most went into the  river. The population has thinned way down since.

The best Bass fishing spots on shore are now overgrown with weeds and brush. Too many weeds for crankbaits. Use sencos, jigs, or spinner baits. Bass are hard to find and pan fish are small. I have fished this lake a lot and it has gone down hill over the years. No more access to the best pike and catfish spot. Fish the boat launch on evenings. Some nights you get a live band! Good luck.
