plan on hittng up st. clair this year 3-4 times also may make the trip to eire if weather is good. plan on hitting the lake spring, summer fall to get a feel of the lake thru out the year.
looking for where to start looking as well as what do i need to have on the boat for coast guard.
Here's the full manual: Vessel Safety Check Manual (http://www.uscg.mil/directives/cim/16000-16999/cim_16796_8.pdf) Page 47 has the checklist. If you're planning on fishing Canadian Waters, make sure you also take a quick look at their checklist (http://ccga-gcac.ca/files/library/PCSC_Check_Form_en.pdf) too. There's not much different, other than a few minor details.

Flares are a must due to international waters alot of people miss that! The blow up vest must be on to count as a jacket, so have regular life jackets on board if not wearing the blows ups all the time. 8)
