With water temps beginning to cool off, the largemouth are beginning to school up shallow. Fished for a couple hours yesterday with the kids. Bite was a bit slow, as we didn't find much for baitfish. Fished real clear water with lots of vegetation and we were focused on largemouth.
Only picked up a dozen or so, all in the 1-3 pound range.
Action should heat up in the next week or two.
That's what I was wondering bigjc. I'm taking a vacation day Wednesday and heading out there. Weather conditions should be outstanding.
BD. ;D
Weekend weather played a big factor. Saturday was high skies pre-frontal, yesterday was a huge front, and that prolly slowed the fishing down.
Funny, I was on the Detroit river on 9/28 too. One smallie and a few largemouth. Was a tough bite in the morning, but the afternoon turned out to be a decent day fishing.
I was really expecting a stellar day on the water. I believe that Mojo maybe on to something. I still think that in another week or two, they will start really putting on the ol' feedbag.
If you got an empty back seat and want to test that theory out, let me know :D

me too ! But I wont go without Rick ! Where's Bob O when we need em !
It is gonna be awhile before I can get back on the river. I have a classic (two day) tourney this weekend, then hopefully hunting the week after. Hoping to meet my buddy down in KY for some southern musky hunting after that.
I don't know about everyone else but I don't mind hearing about southern muskie hunting either. There's a board on here for that too I'm sure!
You can rest assured that I will bring back a report if there is one to be had. I have been Musky hunting on Cave Run on several occasions, and it is no easy task.
Sounded like it was pretty good for a while but I haven't heard anything lately. There seems to be big fish being caught all over the place though so hopefully you'll get into some.
