Title: Erie 9-4-2013
Post by: Skulley on September 07, 2013, 12:31:27 PM
After getting the pool closed on Tuesday, I decided to get the rest of my vacation time started at Erie. I ran out of Erie Metro along the north shore. My first stop was Holiday Beach. I started out in 15 fow and worked my way shallow. I caught several 2 to 2.5lb smallies on rattle traps and tubes. I then went to another area a bit closer to Colchester. I caught several more in the 2 to 3lb range. As the wind was starting to pick up, I ran back closer to the river and caught several more in the 2.5lb range on cranks, traps, and tubes. My next stop was to check some areas in the lower river. My largemouth spots weren't on yet however I did catch some more smallies in the 2 to 2.5lb range. Water temps were anywhere from 68 to 73 degrees. The water clarity was any where from 4 feet to 10 feet.

I went out that wed morning(the 4th). I stayed around the river and did pretty good since I haven't been out there in over a month. Took my Grandpa out and we caught about 20 smallmouth and maybe 10 largemouth. All the fish were good size with the biggest maybe 4 lbs.

I went out of erie metro Tuesday the 10th. We did okay, but not great. Caught maybe 20 smallmouth, but never could find a large school of fish. Most of our fish came in deeper water next to humps. Most fish were in the 2 lb range but we did get one big 5lber. This was most likely my last trip up north this year, and I must say I really struggled all year. There is always next year.

Yes there is. PLUS, fall is not over yet! The fish are still biting somewhere!
